Resolution led Seth to a small clearing three hours after dusk. It was becoming a habit to go down at this time. The two of them had been traveling on horse back for five days, always heading south. Resolution talked very little, and so Seth finally got the courage to ask her about her past. When he did, she got a sad face and began a long tale of sorrow and death, with little happiness, to make the cold chill of the night go away. "It all began when I was born about seventeen years ago, I'm very young for an elf, as you are." Seth was shocked, but the darkness hid his face, with the mouth hanging down his chest. Resolution continued, " My Father was a great warrior, and my mother a wonderful sorceress. I began with a good life, having two older brothers. When I was three, the Asmanians attacked Hanetellen, my home country. My parents told me and my brothers to flee. They jumped on 2 of the nearest horses and grabbed me, racing along the paths, known only to a select few. When we reached the shores of the island, we saw a galley heading out. We jumped aboard and hid ourselves. When it docked, we slipped off and ran into a bad part of the city. That's where we met Selaquin. He took us to his Fortress deep in Jade Forest. He has trained many other elves and humans in our same position and we would do anything for him. He is a fatherly figure to those who have lost everything. A few months after the ambush, we got a hawk from Hanetellen, with a message from our parents. The message said they loved us and were sad they would miss us growing up. The hawk also carried a sword and staff, form my mother to me. That is all I have left of her." At that, Resolution was quiet, and Seth knew she was crying. He went over to her, and wrapped his arms around her. They sat that way all night. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
