Flute Song

See a golden sun
Calling up winds to blow the
Golden grain about

The soft beauty of a reed flute sings out
I used to play one like it.
I long for more than just the memory

When the dragonfly notes play across the fields
And reach me from the seas of wheat
I feel my heart ache

But someday it is surely
My flute that will play the song
That dances over the world

So I wait with a smile
I will one day again touch the smooth wood
The flute that carries my heart

The flute that in my hands becomes living wood
And sends a melody across the distant worlds
About life and love and universes

And about the stars.
My flute will play about the stars
