Refugee of Earth

One day I came into the dark world Stumbled and fell into the dark And there I saw a girl She was terrified and hostile

No one cared to help her Nobody gave her a second thought Always treated her like dirt Let her be tread on like the ground beneath

I saw the light in her dark soul Saw the chance to save her I seized the opportunity Though sometimes it seemed useless

I knew she couldn't stay in the dark eternally Because none of us can

And so this terrified, intimidating girl Can stand tall for the first time A sparkle in her eyes of hope And kindness shines throughout her

I helped the refugee From a cold, dark, shadowy, and hostile world Into the light, into the real world Where she is free to explore

Her dark past still echoes in her voice But now I know the truth That all she needed was someone To listen and understand

I have seen what no one else has The light hidden in this angel No longer drowning in her history Of oppressing people in her life

No longer will she be an object To tease, or mock, or scorn For she can stand tall now Inside this surreal world
