Never to love

By Alexandra Reed

To love you I must never grow old
I must never think badly or grow cold
I will never make you unhappy
Or try to make you think sappy

Romance is unknown to you
What are the things I must do?
Yes I love you, till death do we part
You have consumed my great heart

Never a moment when I don't think of you
But everyday I never see you, is this new?
So I do not know you and don't pretend to
Am I something you should care for? Or just something to do

But this isn't how I am, you see
I will never be a prize won to be
You are not my master, that's a fact
You may have to deal, that's tact

I will never become a slave for you
You will have to think long and hard for this to do
Can you catch me? Will you try?
I do think if you do not get me, you will surly cry

Now this is awful, but for you or for me
I will not be something to play with or merely to see
You will praise, love and admire me you will need to do
This is what I say, and it will all be true

I think you are not the right person for me
Lest you change yourself, but that I think will not come to be
To change you is to change the world
Now you can go and leave me be, let your love be curled
