A boy now of thirteen years. On this day Samuel decided, he promised, he would be totally honest just this once. No more holding back, just the way his father had taught him. The truth caused his mother to not trust him. The truth caused his friends to abandon him. The truth made him enemies with complete strangers. The truth Samuel told to his closest friend of his true feelings for her causing them to break apart. The truth in one day destroyed things that had held strong for years. How could the truth betray him with such irreparable damage?
Samuel shut the running water off and stepped in. The water, so warm. A shimmer; a reflection as he brought the glass to the top of his wrist. The truth is, there was a way to repair the damage. This is it. What is the good in truth? Truth hurts, separates, destroys, and kills. The truth is pain. But no longer. He drew the glass down his arm and repeated on his other. He lay back in the tub as the clear water was tainted red. He watched the swirls as he began to sink. Head submerged; Samuel took the bloody water into his lungs and choked but was unable to raise his head for breath. His suffering did not last long. For those to find him however, the suffering had yet to begin.
