A/N: I'm so sorry it took so long for me to update. I have ZERO ideas on what will happen next, and it was really hard for me to even get this chapter out. Ideas would be wonderful! Thanks to everyone SOOO much for reviewing!

~One Month Later~

He stepped out into the bright sunlight on Chris's porch, crutches beneath his arms, sunglasses on his head. It had happened so fast, even though the days in the hospital were long. He was barely ever alone almost making him wish that he had privacy every now and then. But, as soon as Paige would step into the room he would forget any worry he had about whether he would turn out okay or not. All fears would evaporate and it was like he was immortal.

Slipping his black shaded glasses over his eyes, and hobbled down the wooden stairs and sat down on the first step, just waiting. He looked up at the sky studying the clouds. You know how people do that. They watch those great balls of fluff and say 'oh, that one looks like a cat.' or, 'that one is a horse.' Hearing a car honk, he moved his eyes to the road.

"C'mon! Let's have a little fun."

Half of Ryan's mouth turned up into an adorable half smile that cause Paige's heart to beat a little faster in anticipation.

Slowly Ryan made his way to the car as best he could, every now and then stumbling across a pebble in his path. When he finally reached the emerald green jeep he set his crutches in the back of the car, standing on one foot as he jumped onto the leather seat. Leaning over he placed a small kiss on Paige's cheek.

"So, where are we going?" He asked.

Paige bit her bottom lip. "Well, I haven't really decided yet. I was thinking of going to the drive-in tonight. But, for now we can just hang out at the park or something. Sound good?"

He mutely nodded his head. Anything she wanted to do was fine as long as it was with him. The car remained quiet as they drove to Emerson Park. Ryan closed his eyes, leaning his head against the cool class window. Would anything ever go back to normal? Probably not, seeing that he had Paige's crazy ex-boyfriend following him around, grabbing his crutches and tormenting him about everything. Word seemed to get out somehow about his dad being an abusive alcoholic and Danny liked to bring up about every five seconds.

*Flashback*

"Well well well. Look at you, you poor pathetic idiot." A deep voice came from the other side of the room. Ryan shifted around in his sheets and looked behind him only to see the figure of Danny, smirking at him.

"What do you want?" Ryan growled. Hadn't he been through enough without having someone trying to mentally destruct him?

Danny clicked his tongues a couple of times while taking a few steps towards the bed. He sat himself down in one of the scratchy maroon chairs, leaning back and making himself comfortable. "I just wanted to discuss a little something with you." He said, giving Ryan the evil eye. "Paige is a very…special person. She means a lot to me, more than you'll probably ever know. And personally, I am very sick of seeing you two together…" He glanced up at him, a devilish grin tugging on the ends of his lips. "…even though YOU screwed up the relationship."

Ryan looked away and through the glass window, staring at the leaves of the tree outside of his room. "You seem to have forgotten, Danny. You fucked up you're relationship with her too. By the way, how is Kristen these days?"

Danny's smile vanished from his face.

*End of flashback*

"And we have arrived!" Paige said excitedly as she took the keys out of the ignition and climbed out. She walked around the front of the car to help Ryan. He not-so-gracefully clambered from his seat and onto the asphalt with a bit of difficulty.

"Thanks." He muttered, slipping the crutches beneath his arms.

Paige looked over him as he walked down the pathway leading to the lush green grass. He had come such a far way, and she was so proud of him. He had overcome so much in his life that she knew she would have broken down if something like he had experienced ever happened to her. He had to deal with the death of a loved one, an abusive parent, a heartbreak, surviving a near fatal accident, and so much more. Some of the things he was still dealing with.

"So, school has been pretty insane huh?" She said, staring of into the distance.

Ryan sighed. "Yea it has. Everyone keeps asking me to retell everything I remember about hitting that damn tractor. I can hardly remember anything. So it's not like anything I have to say is very interesting anyways."

Bobbing her head in agreement she took a seat next to him on the ground. "Some people have no compassion."

Ryan snorted. "You mean like Danny?"

Tilting her head to one side she responded, "What are you talking about? What is he doing now?"

"Same as he has been for his whole like. But now, he has more to say. It gets pretty personal sometimes. I am very tempted to hit him, but it's kind of hard so I'm just sticking with whacking or tripping him with my crutches whenever I get the chance…on accident of course" He replied with a laugh.

"Good." She said and slowly snuggled up into his arms.
