I remember you sitting by a rock pool
Your feet hanging in the water
And your face tilted to the sky.
I remember you smiling up at me
With your brown eyes shining.
And your brown hair shining.
And your brown skin shining.
Almost bronze in the sun.
I remember that summer
When I read you a poem
About the sea and the sky
About being lonely and gray
I remember your sad eyes then.
You held me close and said you'd never leave me.
I remember feeling your smile.
Now I see you walk towards me.
You forgot the rock pool
You forgot the sea and the sky
You forgot the ocean
Maybe you'll forget me.
Now all I have is lonely and gray
And a golden memory of a summer's day
With a crystal sky and a saffron sun
And a simple kiss when the day was done.
