I stare blankly down
From my perch high above,
Eyes fixed on a world
So needing of love.

A filthy child
Of ambiguous sex, caked in dirt.
A battered bride
Searching-not finding-a cure for her hurt.

And my fellow brethren,
In silence they weep,
They cry for a people
That none of us can reach.

Always, in stillness, we watch,
Emotions veiled by faces of stone,
But behind carved expressions,
We moan for a people so lost and alone.

Until we fall to ruin,
'Til we crumble into dust,
Silent guardians we remain,
Hopeful-watchful-just.

A ray of light shines down,
A gift of Hope from above,
The world seems at peace-
Overhead soars innocence in a dove.
