AN: Hey you guys. This is my second story and I actually have a plot thought out. Go me! Anyway, please read and review. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Chapter One-Back To School Again

*Christina's POV*

Here we go again. First day of tenth grade in the suburban school of WestPoint High. Back to a life of never-ending tests, ditzy teachers, and unfortunately, Aaron Lawrence. Swimmer extraordinaire and lifetime arch-enemy of yours truly, Christina Goodman, also known as Tina to my friends.

Now, this wasn't your average type of popular-guy-meets-geek/social outcast-type rivalry. I mean, I wasn't COMPLETELY unpopular. I had my own circle of friends and then tons of those people that you wouldn't tell EVERYTHING to, but they're still your friends and you hang out with them. I guess you could say I had a pretty good life off in WestPoint, USA. Okay, whatever. I won't go on with the boring rambling.

I was standing at my locker before 1st period on the first day of school. My locker was driving me insane! After what seemed like the tenth attempt, the damn thing clicked open. Thank you! Through my struggling I hadn't heard someone come up behind me.

"Well, Goodman, can't get your locker open? Looks like you're as dumb as ever," an all-too-familiar voice sneered.

Now this made absolutely NO sense, considering I had finished top of my class last year.

"Yeah, whatever. Save it for later, Lawrence," I said.

"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" he said as I glared at him.

He walked away with a similar look on his face.

"Grrr!" I yelled when he left.

I don't know how he does that, but he always gets to me so easily. And it was just the first day of school! My friend Rachel and her boyfriend Shane came over just then with Rachel clinging onto him.

"Whoa there, Tina! What's up with you?" Shane yelled, restraining me from kicking the locker.

"I bet I know," Rachel gloated knowingly.

"I bet you do," I muttered angrily.

"Let's see. First day of school, and Aaron Lawrence just passed us as we were coming here, undoubtedly just leaving here," she guessed.

"Oh," Shane said, finally understanding. I swear, he is so slow.

"So am I right?" she asked.

"You know you are," I said.

"Why do you let him get under your skin like that?" she protested.

"I don't know! Ugh, he's so annoying."

"He's not ALL bad. I mean, he used to be my friend before he got all caught up in his swimming," Shane pointed out.

Rachel glared at him. I swim, too, but I didn't let it control my life. Still, I didn't like it when Shane talked bad about the sport just because of his failed friendship with Aaron.

"Ok, fine. I won't speak," he said, holding up his hands to show surrender.

"Good," she said and gave him a kiss.

"Uh, hello you guys?" I interrupted. "I hate to intrude on your little reunion, but aren't we supposed to be focusing on bitching about Lawrence?"

"Sorry, Tina. Maybe later," Rachel responded, in between kisses from Shane.

They were the perfect couple. Rachel Starps and Shane Fisher. They had been going out for a year now, and their relationship didn't seem to cease. I could only wish that I would have a relationship like theirs someday. And then there was my friend Anna Prikk and her boyfriend Mark Fraser.

Here they come now. Oh, the familiar sight of her with his arm around her. Yep, I'd seen a lot of THAT in the past year. Yet again, I'm the oddball out, the third wheel.

"Hi, Tina," Anna greeted with a big smile on her face.

"Hey. I see you guys have picked up right where you left off," I commented, nodding at their clasped hands.

"Mmm hmm," Mark said.

I smiled. Yep, this was my life. Quarrelling with Aaron, seeing Rachel and Shane and Anna and Mark being happy little couples, and being the oddball out. Grabbing my stuff, I headed off to homeroom. I froze when I got there. Sitting in one of desks was Aaron. He was surrounded by all his little swimmer groupies. Great, just great, I thought. A full year with HIM. At that moment, someone laid a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and was greeted by Rachel's welcoming smile. Anna appeared not long after. Soon, Shane and Mark followed. My circle was complete now.

"Don't worry, we'll get through this together," Rachel reassured me.

"Yeah, we're for you," Anna said.

Uh huh, I have to say, I have the greatest friends. I just wish everyone else was that nice, I thought, looking at Aaron with a stare that could melt ice.

*Aaron's POV*

I was walking down the hallway when I saw her, Christina Goodman. Such a bitch, with her smartass ways.

"Well, Goodman, can't get your locker open? Looks like you're as dumb as ever," I sneered.

Then she had to go give me her stupid little comeback. I continued, though. It was the first day of school, and I was bored, so I decided to see her get all riled up. Pretty amusing, if you ask me.

Anyway, I headed off to homeroom and passed her friends, Rachel Starps and Shane Fisher. They were just as annoying as her, though NO ONE could be more annoying than her. She was such a goody-two-shoes. Yeah, sure, she swims, but not like me or any of my friends. Swimming was my life. For her, it was just another thing she excelled at, another thing to add to her many talents, to add to college applications. It was like she didn't HAVE a life, and school was her life, if that makes any sense. I hated it though, how she was perfect and acted like it was nothing. She just told people she didn't want to gloat. Yeah, right.

In homeroom, I was sitting with my friends, all of whom, might I mention, swim. They were having a conversation about some swim meet coming up, but I wasn't listening. Something, well more like someone, caught my eye. Goodman. She was standing in the doorway with her fucking friends. Great, just great. I'm going to have a wonderful year. Yep, wonderful.

AN: I have reloaded this chapter, because of my typos of 'Shawn' instead 'Shane'. Sorry! I have another character named 'Shawn', and my mind must've been somewhere else. Hope I didn't confuse anyone, but they're fixed now.
