The view was tremendously beautiful when she walked to the cliff of the hill. She could see mountains and waterfalls from up there. Taking a deep breath, she quietly sat down on the fresh soft green grass as two butterflies danced around a daisy.
A tear escaped from her eyes as she realized that this was the last time she was ever going to be sitting here enjoying her view. She sniffed, as two more tears escaped and ran down her cheeks.
"Hey there young lady!" she heard from behind her. She instantly recognized who it was..Keith. She quickly wiped her tears away with the back of her hands and then turned around.
"Go away Keith!" she said softly but loud enough for him to hear.
"You okay Kayla? You look a little pale. And I could still see the tears from your face. You missed a spot!" he said with a crooked smile. Kayla rolled her eyes.
"What do you want Keith?" she asked roughly ignoring him.
"Oh nothing really big, I just wanted to see you," he smiled charmingly. The ones that would melt most girls' heart but it had no effect on Kayla. Kayla rolled her eyes again.
"I'm flattered," she said sarcastically. Keith growled.
"Kayla! You know how I am! When I want something I will get it. I would never give up! I tell you! One day, I will win you heart and you shall be my bride!" he said proudly. Kayla tapped her foot impatiently as if it bored her. Her eyebrows arose and she asked, "Finished already? Aww, you know most of the other"speechs"you give me are much longer," Keith's hand clenched so hard his knuckles turned white. Kayla smiled awkwardly then said, "Sorry Keith! But your charm never works on me and never will! So save your breath for some other girl buster! Because I-" Before she could finish her sentence, Keith suddenly cut in,
"Shhhh! LOOK! The sun is setting!" Kayla turned around and saw the sun halfway down already. A yellowish orange light softly glowed around it making the sky turn into numerous of different colors. Pink, purple, the dark blue. Stars slowly appeared in the sky as the mountains covered the last peak of light.
Kayla's lips started to tremble as she remembered it was time for her to go and do the sacrifice. A tear squiggled down its way to her lip. She closed her eyes and then felt arms around her. Without thinking, she buried her face into the person's chest and started to sob. They stood there for a few minutes 'til Kayla finally calmed and unburied her face from him chest. She looked up to meet Keith's concerned eyes.
"Sorry," she whispered.
"Why?..what?" Kayla smiled at his confusion.
"Your shirt.."
"Oh..that..It's ok Kayla! As long as your okay.." the smile on her face widened.
"I'm alright," she whispered, and then looking directly at him in the eyes, and said, "Thank you!" Slowly, she got on her toes and slowly placed a kiss on his cheek. After that she walked away toward the monastery, leaving Keith standing there, still dazed by the kiss.
