INTRODUCTION

Before you start reading this story, get your mind ready for what's ahead. Imagine life in the year 5034; that's over three thousand years from now. Now really think about this; don't just skip this part, 'cause it really is important. Now people have different beliefs and opinions (we won't go off on that too far) about how old the earth is, so lets just keep it recent.

Okay, three thousand years from now.

Let me make this easier on you:

Three thousand years ago, would put us at roughly the year 1000 BC (or however you might say it in other terms) In 1000 BC there was.

NO transportation - now think about this, having to walk or ride a horse or camel wherever you wanted to go. Whoa that would make me not want to travel.

NO communication - no phones, no radio, of course, not even snail mail. Whoa, not even having postage would scare me, you would have no clue what was going on, on the other side of the country unless someone traveled from there and told you about it.

NO technology - no TV, computers, video games, not even simple things we take for granted like stoves and refrigerators and running water.

NO modern medicine - think about it, you catch a cold and die, no one knew what was wrong with anyone, they all thought up these insane cures that only intensified the pain or even caused death. I don't know about you, but that sure makes me glad to be alive today.

NO conveniences - this is a really big thing, no grocery store, (you had to go hunt food and cook it over a fire) no housing, (you'd live in a mud hut) no air/heat, (I don't know about you people, but if whoever invented air conditioning hadn't, I would be five feet under the ground somewhere!) no nothing!

Okay so now we know more about life then, let's talk about life now:

For one, we have ALL those things I just told you about, and back then, they would never have DREAMED of having those things. So think ahead the same amount of time, and think about how many things we will have that now, we would never even dream of having.

Another thing, (and this is really good too) life from say. 1000 BC to 1000 AD was almost NO change whatsoever, and same thing from life in 1000 AD to say, 1500 AD. Now it gets interesting: life from 1500 to 1700 was a HUGE step for mankind, but now look at 1700 to 1800! In 1800 (or in that century) they had telegrams and letters and railroads. (Finally some modern day technology is showing up) and then think from 1800 to 1900, cars, films, airplanes, etc. Now what about 1900 to 2000! (this is the kicker) the technology we have gained from 1900 to 2000 FAR exceeds the technology gained from 1800 to 1900.

Think about it! Every hundred years or so, the amount of advances in mankind has doubled up to now.

SO! Just THINK about how it will keep doubling over and over and over, for three thousand years. Now I'm not saying I know the earth will last that long, but this is a science FICTION story.

So. 5034, huh? Okay, I have used a GREAT deal of imagination in this story to make it believably that far into the future.

Okay now read and enjoy.
