Chapter 2- Preparing for some fun

"Hey." I said, grabbing the empty seat next to Tristan. I threw my school bag onto the table and sat down with a sigh.

"Bad day already?"

"To say the least. I thought today was going to be good but once again, I was wrong." I mumbled under my breath, cursing the fact that this day totally sucked.

"Hey, cheer up. We're in Physics!" He said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and fixed my shirt, which wasn't tucked in like it was supposed to be. For all I knew, this teacher could be a discipline nazi like the others.

"So, what classes do you have?" I was silently praying in my mind that we had a lot of classes together. I liked Tristan so much that it was unbelievable to even myself. I never knew I could like anybody that much. But the thing was, he had no idea. And it tore me up inside that he probably didn't feel the same way that I did.

"I have Anatomy next. You took Anatomy, right?"

"Unfortunately." I let out a heavy sigh as I thought about the lovely things we would be doing in that class. Dissecting pig fetus's and cow brains were not exactly part of my daily agenda.

"What lunch do you have?" He asked, looking at the rest of his schedule.

"Fifth." I had fifth lunch for the past four years. It sucked because most of the food was already gone by the time you got down to the cafeteria.

"Cool, me too." He smiled and stuffed the paper back in his school bag.

I closed my eyes and chanted 'Yes!' in my head a million times. I was so happy that we had at least two classes together. And hey, he was smart. So maybe I could cheat off of him too. It was sort of like a win-win situation.

After going through the next three class periods, I was already in need of a break. Summer vacation had definitely taken its toll on me. I became lazy, and really didn't want to do anything. So, going back to school was a huge task all in itself.

I made my way up to my locker and fidgeted with the lock, which so stubbornly did NOT want to open. And do you know why that lock didn't want to open?

GUM.

Yes, that's right. There was a huge wad of gum stuck all over my lock, prohibiting me from getting it open. And I sure as hell wasn't going to touch it with my bare hands. I kicked the hard metal door, causing me to yelp out in pain. I needed some anger management.

"God damn it!" I screamed. Causing the rest of the hallway to turn and look at me. I was causing a spectacle of myself, not to mention that I was totally grossed out by the gooey chewy shit on my lock.

"No need to be violent now." I turned around to see Evan with his arms crossed over his chest, a smirk on his face that clearly showed he was laughing at me in his head.

"Shut up." I said. I was in no mood for his sarcastic remarks. All I cared about was getting the gum off so I could put my damn books away.

"Is that the way to talk to your best friend? Your best friend who, by a great stroke of luck, has a napkin, so that you can get that gum off of your lock?"

"Fine, I'm sorry." I watched as he pulled the napkin out of his school bag, dangling it in front of my face. I reached for it, and just as my hand was about to grab it, he pulled it up higher, to the point where I couldn't possibly reach.

"Evan give it to me, now!" I screamed, jumping up in the air. I NEEDED that napkin. You know, I always hated how he would get pleasure out of pissing me off.

"What do you say?" He dangled the napkin in the air.

"Please." I was getting annoyed.

"Please what?"

"Oh my God. Please, may I have that napkin?" He smirked and lowered his arm down to my height. I snatched the napkin out of his hands and started picking at the wad of gum.

"Ew this is so gross." I said, quite frustrated.

"Maybe someone's trying to tell you something." Evan shrugged his shoulders and leaned up against the locker next to mine.

"Yeah, that's real funny. I don't see why people can't use the damn trashcan. It's right there!" I pointed to the trashcan that was a few feet away from me. People were so lazy.

"Oh well. There's no point in getting pissed over it now. It's not like you can find out who did it."

"If it happens again, I'm going to kick some ass." We began walking down the hallway. I tossed the napkin into the trashcan and missed-as usual. My aim wasn't exactly the greatest.

"Nice shot champ. Do a few more of those and you'll make the basketball team."

"Very funny. Oh! I talked to Tristan today!" I jumped up and down giddily, latching onto Evan's arm and changing my walking style from a slow pace to a quick skip.

"Oh great here we go again."

"What's that supposed to mean?!" I twirled around in a circle and went through the cafeteria doors.

"You never shut up about him, Lex. It's like all you ever talk about."

I rested my elbow on his shoulder, calming my walk down to a slow pace once again. "That's because I like him!" I said softly.

"Well then why don't you ask him out instead of talking my ear off about him! Because I really don't want to hear about how cute his ass is anymore. Can't you talk about that with one of your little girlfriends?" I smiled, seeing our usual lunch table coming into view.

"It's all the price to pay for being a best friend, Evan my dear. Why on Earth would I tell any of my "little girlfriends" I like him, when I know it would be all over school by like 8th period?"

"Good point. Just keep the ass talk down to a minimum, okay?"

"Yes sir!" I smiled and skipped over to our lunch table. Everyone was already there, allowing me to make my grand entrance. That way, Tristan would notice me.

"Hey guys." I threw my school bag on the table and took a seat next to Megan.

"So, how has your day been so far?" She asked, taking a sip from her bottled water.

"Besides the gum that someone so kindly stuck on my lock, I guess it's been okay." I was going to get food, but I realized that I wasn't hungry. The frustration from the whole day made me lose my appetite. I decided to sit there and chit chat instead.

"Ooh that's the worst." Megan wrinkled her nose up. "Someone did that to me freshman year and I STILL have the gum on my lock."

"Yeah." That was enough girl talk. I wanted to talk to Tristan. That was my main motive from the beginning. But as usual, he was talking to Evan. Probably about Allison Delaney's boobs for all I knew. The town slut. . . she got around.

I cleared my throat and preceded to ask the question I've been curious about for the past month and a half. "So Tristan, are you going to Mike McDonald's back to school party tonight?"

Mike McDonald was famous for his great back to school parties. Although I only went for the pool and hot guys. . . while all the hot guys went for the kegs and weed. But hey, it was still fun-especially if Tristan was there.

"You know the cops are going to break it up in an hour anyway. What's the point of going?" Evan said cockily. I kicked him under the table and watched his eyes widen in pain.

"I guess I'll go. I have nothing better to do anyway and it's a Friday night. So, Why not?" Tristan answered.

I smiled and played with a strand of hair that was coming out of my ponytail. "Well Evan, you don't HAVE to go. I'll get a ride from Tristan or something. That's okay, right?"

"Oh fine, I'll go. But the first second I hear sirens, we're out of there, got it?" Evan pointed his finger in my face and I smacked it away with my hand.

"You got it."

***

"So, what are you wearing tonight?" I asked Evan on the phone. It was only 2:45 so we had a good five hours before the party started.

"I don't know. I'm not a girl I don't plan these things."

"Well maybe you should." I walked over to my closet and opened it up, hoping to find something decent to wear. I wedged the phone in between my neck and shoulder so it wouldn't fall to the ground.

"What are YOU wearing?" He asked mockingly.

"Nothing." I said playfully.

"Ew you're so gross." We both laughed and I pulled out a skirt to go with my new shirt. I guess I'd wear that tonight.

"I got to go do my hair. Call me before you come to pick me up, okay?"

"Why can't you just do your hair in a ponytail or something? It's going to get messed up anyway because you're going swimming."

I sighed and plugged in my straightner. "Because I'm a girl. I have to do this stuff."

"Okay I'll be there at 6:30. You better be ready."

"Yeah, yeah. I'll be ready." I rolled my eyes. "Later."

I put the phone back down on its receiver and pulled the shirt and skirt out of the closet, laying the complete outfit neatly on my bed. It was pretty hot out, and since we were going swimming I wanted something I could take off easily without a lot of hassle.

In twenty minutes, I was dressed. I don't know why I was ready to go four hours before we were leaving. But I figured I could go online for a little bit and chit chat with some of my girly buds about what they were going to wear. I had to make sure I looked better than all of them so if I found out what they were wearing before hand, I could change into something different.

Luckily, my outfit sounded more appealing than any of theirs so I figured I was safe. I doubted that Tristan would even care what I was wearing but you can never be too sure. He was a pretty stylish guy. I had to make sure I was up to snuff.

**********

It was 6:45 and I was still at my house. As usual, Evan was late. I sighed as I picked up my phone and punched in his cell phone number.

"Hello?" He answered.

"Where the hell are you? You're late AGAIN." I was annoyed. Why couldn't he just be early for once?

"Sorry, I was over Donna's. I'll be there in ten minutes."

"FINE." I didn't even bother to say goodbye. I slammed the phone down on the table and trudged up to my room.

I HATED Donna. She had been Evan's "girlfriend" since eighth grade. Well actually, I'd call her more of a fuck buddy. But he'd always get pissed so I took to the title of girlfriend. She was a downright bitch. Arrogant, stubborn, slutty, and she treated Evan like shit. Worst of all, she hated me for being his best friend. She always thought I was plotting something. I prayed to God that she wouldn't be going to the party with us. It was always like murder sitting in the same car as her.

Fifteen minutes went by before I heard a car horn beep outside my window. I growled and got up, making sure I had my purse with me.

"I'm leaving mom!" I screamed, not really caring whether she answered me back or not.

I grabbed my house key and locked the door behind me, walking down the pathway to Evan's car. I opened the door and got in, crossing my arms and staring out the window.

"Oh come on Lex, I'm sorry. It was an accident I lost track of time."

"That's what you always say." I still stared out the window.

"We're not even that late." He tried to argue.

"You know these parties always get busted in less than two hours. We're already almost forty five minutes late." I was too pissed to fight with him anymore. "Let's just go."

Next chapter comes out in a week! Sorry for not updating this so soon. I've been really busy with stuff. Review please!
