This is another repost of one of my earlier pieces, hence the reason it might look familiar. This is a particular favorite of mine. It was written for the first official Gods and Goddesses challenge.

Also, to give you guys some warning, I am going to be starting up my own website with some friends to hold poetry challenges. It will be up and operational at the end of May. Keep your eye out for further details on my bio page!

Also, I am in the middle of exams so if I am slow about reviewing then please forgive me and know that I will get around to it sooner of later.

You and I ~ 08/01/02

Your soul,

so the like the dissipating remnants of a rainbow

under the relentless glare of the setting sun,

fades, becoming but a misty grey sliver

fading into a turbulent and sombre tapestry.

Your eyes,

that once glistened with bespattered silver,

are so now uncharacteristically pallid and parched;

void of the exuberance and creativity

that once flourished in your harbours.

Changed;

the world dissolves

and poetry becomes incoherent

conforming to the bitter sweet standards of

today, much like yourself.

We used to sing a different song;

to the breathing rhythms of the earth

as it spoke with the wind, while we soared,

the music of the eagle's cry dancing in our ears.

I wonder, then, at the silence.
