Alone

Running away,
From the screams and the pain.
Lost in a torrent of blood,
I am alone.

I scream out,
What's the use?
Everyone is caught up in
Their own world of terror.
I am left alone.

Getting away is all that matters
I break free.
The long dried up grass brushes
Against my bare legs.
The bubbling river soothes me.
I am alone.

Not to be found,
Not to be used,
Not to be murdered.
Loneliness is my ally.
I am forever alone.
