The light of a winter's day
Casting pools of light across the walls
Fading away with the afternoon
Despiration to shine as bright as the dawn
Fills the last of it's rays
While the cold wind moans
Memories of other times
Of summer sun
And spring rain
A single tear shed
At the fate of something that never existed
A sincere sorrow for an unreal death
The pitifully sad hope of the martyr
To be rescued before their trials
Brutally crushed when taken to the stake
Scorched by flames
The calm green of the forest floor
Sunlight shines through leaves in summer
Casting masquerading shadows
A withering rose, once gloriously beautiful
Now crinkling into dried remains
