Truth in My Heart
An Original Poem

I do not know
what love feels like.
I know a mother's love, a father's love,
a brother's love, a friend's.
I know love of nature, of life,
of sunshine and rain.
But true love?
I do not know.

True love remains a mystery, an adventure,
Exploring the unknown
I fear love will break my heart to pieces
I fear more it will never come.
That I may never feel love's passionate fire.

So I cannot say
I love you
For I do not know
the nature of true love.
But I do know
with no doubt
one truth in my heart.

I _truly_ like you.

Wendy: I had no idea all this was going on.
Dave: I did!
Wendy: (with heavy sarcasm) I'm sure you did. Resident genius and
psychologist that you are.
(My favorite lines from I play I did.)
