It's got to change

All dem folks's starvin'

graspin' desperately at the golden goose

It's got to change.

All those hungry eyes an' bloated bodies,

children goin' to bed without supper;

It's got to change.

Farms bein' swallowed up by corporations,

Families thrown out of their houses by urban renewal;

It's got to change.

We ne'er asked for much from y'all—

only schooling and food for our children,

health care and a roof over our head—

but since y'all don't find it fit to give us even that,

It is time for a change.
