If Life is a Dream, Then What Are Nightmares?
"Shit!"
My bike came to a halt, splattering mud everywhere, most of it getting over the chrome exterior of my bike.
"What the hell! Stupid chain." I muttered, cursing under my breath as I flipped the bike over and struggled to fix the chain, which had come off its bearings.
"Got it!" I yelped, flipping over the bike with triumph. My smile soon turned into a frown. The mud had stained all of the glossy metal that the bike was made up of. The brown mud encrusted the chrome, contrasting deeply and hardened over the bike.
I whipped out my bike cloth and wiped the mud off. It was such an easy solution to such an ugly problem. If only life was this simple.
"Damn!" I yelled. "I'm late!"
I rushed over to my home, in such a hurry that I almost passed by my house, and had to skid my bike so hard that I almost knocked over an elderly man.
"Young rascals and their crazy stunts."

" Onii-chan!"
"Hai, Tatanaga-kun. Why are you so late?"
"Bike problems"
"Why didn't you take the scooter?"
"It's in the repair shop"
"Baka" He smiled softly to himself and went back to work cooking dinner.
I went into my room, blasted on the music, and started homework. "Sakyo- sensei is gonna be furious."
After awhile my thoughts of academia drifted away, and, in somewhat of a daze, looked out the window.
"Tokyo is beautiful," I muttered.
Indeed, it was a beautiful place. With wonderful light pouring over the sun- baked streets, and the overpowering skyscrapers still not able to shy away the small marketplaces bustled with energy and excitement.
After finishing my homework hurriedly, I rushed outside to meet up with my best friend.
" What's up, Fusuke?" I yelled gleefully.
"Ohayo, Tatanaga"
"You wanna pick up Asuka?"
"Sure"
I had many friends, but Fusuke stood out. Friends since early childhood, he was a pleasure to be with. He was entertaining, open, and intelligent. With brownish-golden hair, and green eyes, he was a sight to behold. Not that I'm into guys and all, but if someone is good-looking, you just have to notice.
Once at my girlfriend Asuka's house, we knocked casually on the door as Asuka stepped cheerily. She was, in one word: angry. Sort of like a walking time bomb, but that's why I love her. Beautiful auburn hair waved in the sunlight, as the reflection accentuated her beautiful face.
" Ohayo, koiboto"

" Hey, Asuka, Fusuke. What do you think will happen to us when we grow up? What will happen to us? Will we be happy or sad? Will we be friends forever, or will we grow apart?"
"For a 14 year old, you think too much"
" Mellow out a bit, Tatanaga-kun"
" That's your response to everything, Fusuke-kun"
After goofing off, watching TV, and goofing off some more, my tired, uneasy body fell into the bed and I fell off into a deep slumber. The dream I had that night was interesting compared to my usual dreamless sleep.
I was torn apart from Fusuke, like the bond that we had was being mercilessly torn apart, and I was plunged into darkness.
"Fusuke!" I yelled, but in vain, as he was falling up, as I was falling down.
"Forget it, he is gone."
"Who the hell are you? Give me Fusuke now, or die!"
" My name is Hiroki. Fusuke is not good for you, he is not good in your world."
"You're not my mother! Give me Fusuke back!"
And then it was over, as I awoke in a deep sweat. I heard someone screaming, and then I realized it was my own, not wanting to wake up, not wanting to realize that the dream was the one that I was living, and I realized that Fusuke was gone, and my life would never be the same. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
