Her vivid green eyes fluttered open to the sound of a knocking on the front door. Turning over slowly she glanced at her clock. She heaved her little body out of bed, grabbing her pink blanket and tottered into the living room. A woman stood holding the hand of a young boy who was sucking his thumb. Titling her head to the side she tugged her mothers shirt. "Who is it, Mommy?" She asked in her four year old voice.
She smiled down at her precious daughter, the dark brown hair tumbling down the back of her purple barney pajamas, her hands clasping her beloved blankey. "We have new neighbors darling." She answered. "Meet the Millers." Peering around the leg of her mother she looked the two up and down.
The little boy stepped forward and extended his hand, showing bright white teeth. "I'm Aidan. And in three weeks, I'm turning five."
She stared at his hand, processing the information in her child brain. Slowly she took his hand with hers and shook it, pretending to be grown up. "Hello. I am Audrey Rose. And I will be five in seven months."
And that's it. That is how they met. The inseparable duo, best friends till end. All for one and one for all. That whole spiel.
