Now, a century later, the descendants of these 10 will continue the ultimate battle with the evil's next generation. Unknown to them, evolution from one generation to the other, has turned the evil to human. They with the ability to open portals, are called the PortalKeepers…
"Portal of Light! Open!" A girl shouted.
Yellow beam shot out from the necklace she was wearing.
"Descend Light Dragon!"
A dragon of bright yellow flew across the sky and headed straight towards something.
RING!
"It's the same dream again." Muttered Resha.
She had been having the same dream ever since the last two months. It was always a girl and a necklace, and a dragon.
"Is it telling me something?" Resha asked out aloud.
"What I'm telling you is you're going to be late if you keep talking to yourself."
Resha turned to look at the source of the voice.
"'kaasan. Ahhh! I'm going to be late! Baka!" she shouted as she rushed to the bathroom.
Resha dashed out of her house as fast as she could. It was the first day of school and she was already late. Luckily, she reached the main gates and started walking calmly beside other students.
"Ah! It's Tomi Sempai!" shouted a group of girls.
"Shun Tomi, Year 2, Track vice-captain, affection of many girls." Mumbled Resha softly.
Shun Tomi quickened his pace as he heard his name being said by the group of girls.
"Girls, why can't they leave you alone and go after me?" Joked Kenji Fumi.
Shun sighed at his best friend's remark. It was the start of his second year at Shoton High and he didn't want to mess it up by getting into relationships. His inspiration to join and excel at the Track Club probably started when girl were chasing him around the school, prefecture and sometimes country.
In the classroom
Resha choose a seat near the window. The scenery was rather unique, from the window; she could see the shopping mall, the dilapidated house and even the amusement park!
"Can I seat here?" asked a girl with slightly blue hair.
"Erm… sure." Resha replied. The girl moved to the seat beside her and held out her hand.
"Hi. I'm Miyumi Kan." The girl said, smiling.
Resha took her hand and introduced herself. "I'm Resha Ukida."
Before they could interact any further, the teacher had already entered the classroom.
"I know this is your first year at Shoton High, but that doesn't mean I'll go easy on you." The teacher said with a smirk.
What the? Resha thought. That isn't exactly what I pictured the teacher would say on our first day! He makes it sound as if we are going to experience hell for the rest of the 3 years here!
"Before any of you ask me questions, I'm Satano Sensei. Now, questions anybody?" asked Satano Sensei.
"No." The class chorused.
Throughout the lesson though, Resha couldn't help but sniffle giggles whenever she thought of the sensei's name.
Satano, Satano. Haha. He sounds exactly like Satan. He must really be one, judging from the way he's treating us. She thought.
Veins could be seen popping out from Satano Sensei's head. His eyebrow constantly twitching as though in frustration and anger.
"Psst, Resha." Whispered Miyumi as she gave Resha a gentle kick.
Resha was too late to notice the hint before a shadow loomed over her.
"I believe the sounds were made by you, Ukida san."
Resha gulped and looked up to face her sensei.
"Perhaps, a bit of detention would do your mouth good? 1 hour after school." Said Satano Sensei before stepping back to the board to resume his lesson.
"Tough luck Resha. I warned you." Said Miyumi with a never-say-I-didn't-warn-you look on her face.
RING!
The bell signifying the end of school went off. Resha packed her bag and waved goodbye to Miyumi before heading to the detention room.
"Just my luck, first day of school and I had to get Satan as a teacher and detention." Resha said to no one in particular.
She kicked her way to the detention room and signed in.
"Welcome to the Detention Room Junior!" shouted someone from the room gleefully.
Resha arched her eyebrow in annoyance. I had no idea seniors were really that annoying and irritating. She thought.
"Kenji." Another voice said.
Resha peered into the detention room and gasped when she saw who were in the room. Loads of seniors, including Shun Tomi and his side kick Kenji Fumi, the guy that made the 'smart' comment.
"Oh a girl. I've never seen girls getting detention before. Especially a junior too. Say, you are not so unlucky to have Satano as your sensei right?" asked Kenji.
Resha clenched her hands at the very mention of Satano. Steam was pouring out of her head. Getting detention on the first day of school was bad enough; now, she had to get into the Guinness Book of World Records as the first girl to receive detention in Shoton.
"Woah! Calm down." Said Kenji as he made way for a fuming Resha.
Shun glanced at the burning girl sitting at the back of the DR [detention room]. He made a mental note to himself to return home late tonight, detention was a banned subject at home. It wasn't his fault that he got into DR frequently, the girls always chased him around, making him late for classes, and sending gifts to him in the middle of the lesson, irritating the sensei in that way, and other stupid things that somehow always gets him into trouble. His determination to stay as far away as possible from girls only made him appear more irresistible to them.
Time went by and soon Resha and the DR frequents were free to go. During the long 2½ hours, she had made friends with Kenji Fumi. The two of them click because of the similarities they share.
"Hey Resha! Do not anger Satano too much, he's a scary one, trust me. I've spent the whole of last year in detention no thanks to the devil. Good luck with the choosing of your Club. Shun and I are in the Track team!" Grinned Kenji as they left the DR.
"Satano is picking faults with me, it's not my problem. Anyway, thanks for the tip." Said Resha.
The sun was setting and the school had become rather dark. Unbeknownst to them, a pair of eyes silently watched from the last level of Shoton High as they made their way out of the school.
