Leaves fall

a brilliant spray of red and gold

but I see only splintered glass

a stain of frantic tire marks

the scent of burnt rubber

Winter creeps

the seeping cold pins breath to air

Christmas and angels and cinnamon

it isn't right that you aren't here

where did you go?

Spring blossoms

the grasses sway in the windy showers

our daffodils lift their sleepy heads

but you don't; you can't

and I don't understand why

Heat rises

laughing children running barefoot

lingering notes of a far-off ice cream truck

I feel the seasons moving, like clouds

time passing, people forgetting

Everything changes

I can't help but stay the same.
