As the clouds parted, the stars seemed invisible next to bright moon. It seemed so mysterious. As though something lurked within the darkest of the night, something potentially dangerous. Yet it is that danger that seduces us, to a quivering lump, yearning for the immortality. Most of us were ignorant to it. However, there were a few who were aware of the darkest secret, and who were disgusted by it.
One person knew the secret deeply. One person had been haunted by it, hunted it and was even captured by it. He never found the night as enticing as he did before, when he saw the planets through his telescope and marveled at the beauty of the night.
But if you dig to deep you might find something that you don't want to know. After all, curiosity did kill the cat.
Suddenly, he stood up. He glanced around dazed then answered his cell phone with a cautious hello.
"Hey, Gabriel. Is it done yet?"
Gabriel glanced around the party. Everyone was sweating, smiling at each other, but they're eyes were somehow vacant. They had fallen into the music. They were hypnotized.
"No, but I think they're going to be coming soon. They people are out."
"Do you need help?"
"No, I think I can handle it." Gabriel smiled into the cell phone. "Make sure that you're outside the house. We need to get out as soon as possible with the leeches. Speaking of which, who the hell thought of this code?"
A chuckle reached his ears as his partner commented, "Careful kid. The minute you're full of yourself is when they get you." With that the cell phone suddenly went dead. Gabriel glanced towards the doorway, already his heightened senses sensing a being, a very weak being, standing near the door. He sized the girl with a slight glazed look. As if he was hypnotized.
Gabriel sent his senses to the girl, knowing fully well that she did not know that he was controlling her. She looked at his direction. Her eyes wandered from the top of his head to the tip to his feet. She blushed.
She was pretty, her eyes a bright blue and blonde curly hair, making her ever so innocent. Gabriel smiled at her as she approached him. Behind her, came however three more guys.
Great, now I have three people to get.
Yet he smiled at the girl. "How are you doing, sweetheart?"
The girl smiled and tilted her head, "How 'bout we go for walk, honey?"
"Sounds good to me."
She took Gabriel's hand and the two other walked up to her.
"Roland's not coming. He's at another place." One of the guys with a bald head and pierced nose said. His nose ring glistened as he looked over Gabriel. Suddenly his eyes widened. His hands were already reaching towards the girl even as Gabriel took out his stake.
He struck the girl at her heart and with a scream of shock; she fell down against the floor. A few seconds later, there was nothing but ashes left of the girl. Gabriel didn't wait, however and view the girl as she turned to ashes. He turned to the guy with the bald head and moved an inch before a punch could even reach him. Then with a hard kick, the bald guy fell down and was no more but dust. Gabriel turned to the third guy who just started walking away.
"Please, don't kill me." The guy mumbled, tear of blood going down his cheek.
Gabriel pushed the stake into the crying guy's chest. He was not human, but rather a beast, which took victims and made them what Gabriel was.
"I bet that's what your last victim told you, leech." Then with a striking speed, he used a sword to cut the head off. Before the body's knee fell to the floor, a scream erupted and sand floated around the room. This one had been a new one, probably taken by force. Still, it was better to die than to live a life like that.
Taking his cell phone out of his pocket, he flipped it open. "Gabriel."
"You've got a new assignment. Come to my office immediately."
