Dusty Wants Out

The door was swung open
A horse stood quite still.
It had to be a bad omen
When he let out a loud shrill.

The whole trailer shook
As he jumped about with fear.
From a man's mouth he took
The scream no one could hear.

The hooves of the creature
Broke bones and made marks.
The thought of a preacher
As his vision went dark.

A woman tried to help
Her husband from the pounding feet;
But she let out a yelp
When his hoof her leg did meet.

The horse tried to kill
Tried to get away.
The man is lucky that still
He is alive today.

Now that horse is no more,
Gone is that big boy
No coming through the front door;
A new home to destroy.
