*Lily's point of view*
I woke up with a start the next morning to the alarm. I rolled over on my back and stared at the ceiling for a little while until I saw Rose walk into the room and I was surprised she was awake already. She went straight for the closet and pulled out a bunch of hangers. She tossed a couple onto my stomach.
"Up sleepy head! Time for school!" she cried overly enthusiastic. "Wow, I can't believe I just said that," she said in her normal tone of voice and then walked away.
The office that morning was complete chaos. There were teachers standing around, coffee mugs in hand and chatting. A huge line of students led up to a sign that read schedule changes. Luckily, Mrs. Dailey, the secretary, recognized us immediately from the day we registered and called us over to her desk.
"Here's your schedules, girls. I set them aside for you. The office is always this busy on the first day." She shook her head and gave an exasperated sigh.
"Thanks," Rose said. I could only smile; I was too overwhelmed to get any words out. Rose looked over at me with worry in her eyes and I just smiled at her, in what I hoped was a reassuring way. Why did I have the feeling that we had reversed roles? I was completely not used to being in such a large place with so many people when I didn't know anybody. I had such a longing for my old school and my old friends where everything was familiar that I had tears in my eyes.
Rose and I turned and forced our way to the office door and out into the crowded corridor.
*Rose's point of view*
Lily and I were in different homerooms because we were in different grades, so I said goodbye to her after comparing our schedules on the staircase and went down to my homeroom. I stopped in front of the heavy wooden door and took a deep breath. I adjusted my bag on my shoulder, tucked my hair behind my ear, and walked into the room. The seats were about half full, people were scattered and sitting in clumps chatting. I walked down the first isle and sat in the very last seat. I would be able to see everything from there.
I watched the people walk into the room, studying their faces and the way they dressed, noticing that everyone nearly wore the same thing. Then a guy walked in, he was different and he was cute. He wore baggy, ripped jeans and a tight T-shirt. He had thick black rimmed glasses on and shaggy blonde hair. He blue eyes were the most shocking thing about him; they shone out from behind his glasses.
I don't know if my mouth dropped open or something, but somehow I must've caught his attention because he gave me a grin and started walking toward me. He plopped himself into the seat in front of me and spun around casually.
"You new?" he asked in a cute accent that I couldn't quite place. I nodded.
"I'm Jamison," he said and stuck out his hand. I shook it firmly. His hand was huge and completely consumed mine.
"I'm Rose," I said, almost meekly. He made me nervous for some reason.
"That's pretty," he said. "It suits you."

I pushed open the door to my homeroom, hearing a thud and a loud cry on the other side as I did so. I ran forward and looked to see who I had whacked.
"Joel?" I was surprised to see a familiar face. "I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" He was holding a hand over his nose, but when he drew it away there wasn't any blood.
"Yeah, I'm okay," he said with a little grin. "This your homeroom?"
"Yeah," I replied. "Is it yours?" He nodded and I grinned widely, glad to know somebody.
"What do you have first?" he asked as we walked toward the back of the room to take a seat.
"Ummmm," I had to glance down at my schedule as I sat down. The bell rang before I could answer and a tall woman with long brown hair and a large mouth strutted into the room
"Good morning," she said coldly. "I'm Mrs. Conzoll. Welcome to you first day of junior year; I'm sure you're looking forward to it. Now, in this homeroom, even though it is just homeroom, there are lots of as you shouldn't be talking while I am talking."
I shoved my schedule onto Joel's deck so he could see my first period class. He glanced down at it and grinned, pulling out his crumpled schedule out of his pocket and pressing it into my hand. I unraveled it and check out his first period. It was the same as mine.
"Sweet!" Joel whispered and held out his hand for a five. I lightly smacked his palm and giggled. Ms. Conzoll's head snapped around and she glared at me. I shrunk down in my seat; I wasn't used to getting in trouble at school. I had always been a real "goody-two-shoes". I'd never even had lunch detention in middle school or anything. Joel was chuckling at the shocked look at my face as I scrunched down further behind my desk.
I bolted out of my seat after sitting through the remaining twenty minutes of homeroom absolutely silent. Joel laughed at me as he jogged behind me to keep up.
"You don't know where that room is, I bet, so I'd better walk with you," he said, smiling.
Yeah, you're right," I said, looking at my schedule again. It read, "Algebra II, room 235, Smoasky."
"What are you so afraid of Conzoll for?" Joel asked me as we started down the hall.
"She gave me a death stare like I was next to be added to her hit list or something," I muttered. I was a little embarrassed for acting so weirdly. "I usually get along with my teachers, but I don't like her."
"Not many do," Joel said. "So you excited for your first day of Algebra?"
"Oh yeah," I replied sarcastically. Suddenly, a door swung open into the hallway right in front of my face; it would have hit my square in the nose if Joel's hand hadn't come to my rescue.
"Thanks," I said. "I've got to learn to watch out for that, I guess."
"That's the only door in this hallway that swings outwards. It's hit me before," he said sheepishly. I laughed.

I stared at the back of Jamison's smooth, dirty blonde head while the teacher talked and talked about school rules and the like. I didn't really care about following the school rules at the moment. Actually, I'd never really cared about following the school rules before. When the bell rang, Jamison spun in his seat. His bright blue eyes entranced me.
"What's your first class?" he asked. His accent melted me.
"Oh, ummm." I glanced at my schedule. "Physics." I made a face. "What's yours?"
"Freakin history," he replied. "That's in the same wing though, let's walk."
We walked through the jam packed hallways, not saying anything. I was just trying not to get lost in the mass of people. When we got to the science department, Jamison gently took my schedule from my hand and looked at the room number. He walked me to my room and stopped outside of the open door.
"Here we are madam," he said smoothly, gesturing with his hand to the inside of the room. "I wish you a good day, and if I don't see you later, I will certainly look forward to see your lovely face tomorrow in our most lovely homeroom." He kept talking like he was royalty and it made me smile.
"Thanks for the escort," I said. As I stepped into the room, Jamison let his hand rest on my upper arm.
'See you later, Rose," he whispered right into my ear. Goosebumps shot up my arms.
"Bye," I choked out. I couldn't help blushing as he walked away. His touch was so warm and his voice was so smooth.
I walked into the room kind of dazed. The room was already pretty full, but I didn't see anyone's face.
"Hey, Rose, who knew we'd have first period together?" I heard behind me. I turned around to see Shawn's smiling face. Emotions clashed inside my heard.
"Hey Shawn," I said simply as we took our seats.
