What a magical emotion hope is;
It inspires inconceivable dreams,
Pushes us all to new extremes,
It provides us that sense of comfort,
And drives us to attain things,
That otherwise we wouldn't strive for,
It's that little voce that is constantly reminding,
That there is a light at the end of every tunnel-

And yet it can also be so devastating;
It causes a false sense of the future,
It produces mass amounts of contradictory thoughts,
It forces us down paths we otherwise wouldn't travel,
It laughs in our face when we are aching,
And it does not share with us our fears or misfortune,
Worst of all, it never stops, not even for a second,
Even when you wish it to leave, it insists on staying-

So please, if you care about me,
Take this horrid burden from me,
I don't want this hope to haunt me,
I no longer want its pain to strike me,
Please, I'm begging of you to help me.

It watches me, as I lie fast asleep,
It hides around each corner, when I wake,
It consumes my mind with its nonsense,
It talks me into aiming for the unachievable,
Only to laugh when I'm defeated,
It's so patient and waits for days on end,
Until I'm most exposed and vulnerable-

So please, if you care about me,
Take this horrid burden from me,
I no longer want its pain to strike me,
Please, I'm begging of you to help me.
