Duties of Life or Love: Chapter Two- What Goes Bump In The Night
Warning: This is a story that has gay, yaoi, slash, or whatever you want to call it inside it. This means that there are two guys in here that like each other. If you don't like, don't read. I won't give much more warning beyond that. If you don't mind, then keep on reading.
Shiken walked, like any other day, to the last remaining clases he had. He did have a car (from Shiyue), a motorcycle (that was a gift on his fourteenth from Kenri), and a magic hoverboard (gift from Inori), but he didn't like using them much except for the motorcycle. Right now, walking was fine. He felt he needed the exersize even though he was acutally quite fit.
"Excuse me!" shouted someone.
Shiken turned around. A silver ponytail whiped itself out of his shirt from the force. Shiken's hair usually was short. But since Shiyue died, he grew the back just like Shiyue did as a thing of remembrance. However, he never braided it. He wanted it in memory of Shiyue. Not to be like him completely.
"What is it?" said Shiken to the person running up to him. The person stopped to take a breath.
When he caught his breath, the man began to speak. "My name is Riden Kino. I'd like to buy your services."
"Sorry, I'm not a whore." said Shiken as he turned to continue walking to school.
"Wait! I'm sorry. That didn't come out right. I would like to have your service as a demon slayer to check out something for me." said Riden.
"There are plenty of other demon slayers. Why do you want to come to me?" asked Shiken.
"Because, you're a Shinriyue." said Riden.
At that Shiken stiffened. "How do you know if that is of any importance?"
"I've done my research." said Riden confidently.
"Leave me alone." said Shiken. He turned and continued walking.
Riden followed him. "You want another reason? You were part of the the Ryoku. The elite demon slaying military core. So elite, that there were only ten demon slayers there."
Shiken glared at him. "So? I retired when I was seventeen. I needed to focus on my studies."
"Out of those ten, you're the last surviving member." said Riden.
Shiken turned icy cold and stiffened. "How do you know that?"
"You retired because the rest of them were killed. Not because you wanted to focus on education. The military gave you the same exact education that you could get from any high class school."
"Why should I help you? There are plenty of other demon slayers out there ready to take your money. I have enough thank you. I'm not here just to go see what goes bump in the night for you."
"Only because of one of your fathers."
Shiken pulled out his gun in a flash and pointed it at the man's head. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you."
"Because, you kill me, and you'll have broken your demon slaying oath not to harm the innocent."
"From the looks of it, you're hardly an innocent." said Shiken while putting away his gun.
"Look. You're one of the best. Just get rid of this demon that's bothering my business, and I'll leave you alone as well as give you a nice pay check." said Riden confidently.
Shiken looked away in thought. Finally, he looked at the man with his piercing pale gold eyes. The man took a step back at their power. "I'll help you. But if I find anything funny going on, I'll slay you instead of the demon. If you've done your research, put your address in my mail box and I'll be there tonight." said Shiken before walking off.
"I'll take that as a yes." said Riden under his breath.
That night, Shiken was, indeed as he promised, at Riden's house to watch over his "business" which Shiken realized was nothing but poker games between big business men over large sums of money. Riden appeared to make quite a lot out of this so it was obvious that the demon probably just wanted money.
"Idiots. They act as if money is more important than their lives." said Shiken as he sat calmly on the roof.
Homework was done and in order to get to Riden's and finish his homework, he had to order take-out for Kalin. She didn't mind. Part of the reason Shiken loved her so much. For a younger sister, she was very mature about the fact that Shiken couldn't always be there.
"How's it going Shinriyue?" said Riden from below.
"Nothing so far." called Shiken. "I'll make another round just to be sure."
Riden only nodded as Shiken got up and jumped away. Shiken landed perfectly onto another part of the roof. The house was a mansion and if Shiken had anything to say about it, it was bigger than Kenri's previous one. Shiken quietly went around the house searching for any evidence of a demon coming. He soon got it. He sensed the presense of said demon. Shiken jumped back as the demon landed where he was standing.
"So... Little Riden's got you to keep me out? You hardly seem worth my time." said the demon.
Shiken got a good look at his target. Dark crimson red hair. Like the dark color of blood. Taller than him. Reddish purple eyes. Fair complection with a slight tan. Same sort of build as him. Shiken's voice would have been screaming "God he's hot! Fuck me!" if it weren't for his mental control. This was the target. The demon had to be killed. No questions asked. Shiken steadied himself and charged with his katana. When he stepped out into the moon light, the demon got a good look at him too. He noticed the pale silver hair lashing out behind him. Light golden eyes. His sort of thin but strong build. Now this was something. The demon readied himself for the charged and jumped. Shiken expected this and jumped too. He slashed. The demon moved to the side.
"My such a pretty demon slayer. Aren't you afraid you're going to get blood in that pretty hair of yours?" said the demon as he avoided another attack.
"No." was Shiken's cold reply as he resorted to physical magic attacks.
Shiken punched at him with a glowing fist. The demon caught his wrist, pulled forward a bit with it, then wrapped an arm around Shiken's waist and pulled him close. Shiken was at least four inches shorter. The demon leaned his head down under some foreign urge, and placed a kiss on Shiken's shocked lips. When the demon stopped, Shiken was blushing. He only smiled and then winked.
"My name's Kyo Hitotama. I have a feeling we'll meet again little demon slayer." said Kyo before letting go of Shiken and disappearing.
Shiken touched his kissed lips. They were tingling. That was Shiken's first real kiss. Besides the fact that he had gotten it from a demon, he liked it. "What was that... Kyo Hitotama..."
"Hey Shinriyue! Everything alright up there?!" shouted Riden.
Shiken wipped his head around to see Riden looking up at him. "Fine." said Shiken. "Everything's fine."
"Did you get 'em?!"
"No! He got away. I'll take my leave of you now..." Shiken then jumped into the trees and ran on top of them all the way home. 'What the hell was that!'
So I finally got to something close to romance! A bit quick if you ask me, but just wait. Shiken isn't in love yet. There's a lot more that's going to be going on before anything happens between the two. It's obligatory! So review for me now and see what else happens! Please?
