In a garden was planted a rose
This rose was planted long ago
And into this garden stole
One to pick this very rose

This rose was given to me
A picture of utter beauty
A sign for me to see
The love this One had for me

My poor rose with no more strength to live
Such is a dreamer with no more dreams to give
Brilliant sparkles and shimmers of delight
Now dull and silent; such is life

Humbly given her rights
For one smile,
For one sign,
One for me to see tonight

For one laugh, one touch
One tear, and one sigh
One thought of content
For one moment in time

It almost seems in vain
My poor rose will never bloom again
But without it, things wouldn't have changed
And never again will I be the same
