Mother, what you gave me
As I stand in our new body
I remember our sacrifice
And new tears spring from my face
Mother, you gave me
the flight of birds,
from your own clipped wings
As you lay dying
Your greatest sacrifice
at the end of a struggling life
I had been lost to you,
and now I came from within your heart
You're love's blood,
sprinkling as I hatched from your body
As you hatched from your mother's,
that cold day so long ago
Give us rebirth
Deny us rest, in our endless suffering
we find peace withing each other
our minds merging
your greatest sacrifice
birth me into the sun,
our wings extended in flight
Your soundless scream
your gift of rebirth unto me
Now you lay silent, your shell smashed and broken
on the sidewalk
by the building
from which you jumped
Your life an endless cycle of suffering and rebirth
rest within me
as I walk away,
your purple hair and red eyes painted on my white skin.
