Silent sibilant hissing
A black shadow slowly sliding
Through yellow grass
Wheat bouncing back soundlessly
Leaving no trail only a ripple
A small inconsistency in the
Field of yellow reflecting the sun

Little toddler waddling playing in
The sun giggling flat out on her
Back sending out torrents of
Laughter so happy she has
Hiccups but so oblivious
To the imminent danger
Snake hissing she can't hear -

It strikes.
