Turn Off Your Phone

By: Mika

She yawned slightly as she walked into the house, not really caring about anything. The redheaded girl ignored the TV as an urgent new broadcast was announced. However her roommate turned the TV up and watched intently.

"..The two victims were released today and sent home. However Gerald is still missing, and the police are warning people to be weary for their phone.."

"Turn that thing off. We're safe here, that was in Sequim." The redhead snorted at her roommate, and grabbed the remote from her. Which she used to turn the TV off with, then stalked from the room.

A few hours later she wandered into her bedroom and let out a sigh. Her bed was on the floor like usual. Nothing out of the ordinary, but she couldn't help but feel something was off. The phone beside her rang loudly making her scream and jump from her reverie.

"H-hello?" The redhead asked in a shaky voice. She was appalled by the way it trembled. There was nothing wrong after all. So why this scared voice?

"Ash this is Mutha Rei. Turn off your phone."

"What..? Why?" Ash, the redhead asked her adoptive mother. However she didn't get an answer. All she got was the sound of the dial tone. Mutha Rei has hung up on her.

Ash sighed and lay back down on her bed. She grabbed her blanket and wrapped it close. It was beginning to get frightening. The feeling was getting worse closer to her. She still couldn't figure out where it came from. Letting out another shaky sigh the girl decided she would think about it later. Closing her eyes she drifted off to sleep.

Ash shrieked awake as the phone rang a second time in her ear. She jerked upward, still groggy and pushed the on button. Her voice was low and far away this time, "H-hello?"

"Sweetie turn off your phone." The voice of her mother's old friend Shelly answered back.

"Why..?" Ash asked lazily as she looked around the now dark room. It was now dusk, few stray rays of light drifted in from her window.

"'Cause the victims are home and Gerald's there." Shelly's voice told her slightly urgently, yet strangely without passion. It came again telling her, "Just turn off the phone."

"Okay." Ash replied really having no intention of turning off the phone. She was just tired and wanted to go back to sleep. So she hung up and put the phone down. However she could still hear Shelly talking. The redhead couldn't understand what she was saying, but she could hear her.

"What..?" Ash asked distantly sitting up again. The feeling now coming back a thousand fold. She swallowed as looked over at her window.

"What is this..?" Shelly asked, and then suddenly stopped talking.

Ash slowly, nervously peeked outside her window and saw her ex-stepfather standing out the window with a few boys. The look on his face was purely evil as Gerald told her, "Ashley you, should come with us!"

Ash frantically tried to get her window closed, but it was not use. It was broken, along with the screen on it. She let out a little squeak and rushed from her bedroom. As she ran from the room she heard Gerald saying, "That is Ashley right?"

Her roommate was still watching TV, completely oblivious to the danger they now faced. Ash paced around the room holding the small white cordless in her hand. Not thinking about the warnings, just trying to figure what to do.

"You've got the phone right?" Gerald voice asked from the other side of her front door.

Ash didn't respond, she just jumped and tried to dial 911. In her panicked state her fingers kept dialing the wrong number. Everytime she had to hang up her heart beat a little faster. Soon it was drumming louder then thunder in her ear. Her fright so high she thought it would explode in her chest. Why wasn't her roommate helping? Why couldn't she get her finger to dial the damned number? And why the hell couldn't she remember the address of where she lived?

"Emergency assistant, what's your emergency?" A small feminine voice asked her over the phone. She had finally gotten her fingers to work.

"You've got to help me! Gerald's outside the door and he's gonna get me!" She nearly shouted in her panic. She was crying now afraid for her life. Her heart beating so loud she could hardly hear the woman on the other line.

"What is your address?" The voice asked her. But she didn't know, couldn't remember.

Ash was about to tell her she didn't know where she was, but suddenly her heart gave the most dreadful start. It felt like someone had stabbed a knife through her chest. Her entire body pulsated with pain as she dropped the phone and clutched her chest. Slowly the room faded away.

~The End.

A.N. I had that dream, the dream didn't end like that. But I figured it would make the story better if it ended that way. Anyways if you liked it review it. I shudder to think what would happen if it was continued, as it steamed from a nightmare I had. Oi. Icky.
