Chapter I

There once lived a very powerful king called Azurno, who often wore long silk black robes, which gave the expression that he was arrogant and power hungry. As the words on mouth spread, Azurno was believed to be a dark sorcerer who wanted to control the Seven Kingdoms of Ansopias.

No one knew that such rumors hurt him. The Queen knew he was both powerful and sensitive. He eventually gave up his throne to his cousin, and left. People talked of Azurno dying from pricking his finger on a spindle, which was the family curse.

The Queen remained at the castle. She became ill and distant also, when the kingdom's healer checked her. The Queen was astonished when the Healer announced he could give her no drug to ease her. "Why not?"

"My Queen," He said gently. "It is the child you carry!"

The Healer swore he wouldn't tell anyone about it, under the Queen's demands. The Queen knew no one would want to be ruled by an heir of Azurno. She also did not want the precious child to prick her finger. So, after the birth she named the child and sneaked away in a carriage. They went into The Forest and the Queen knocked at the first door she saw.

A young woman answered, frowning at the Queen's clothing. "Yes?"

"I need for you to take my child." The Queen said quickly.

"What?"

The Queen told her the story of her husband. "I must be rid of the princess. If you need money, clothes, I will send them. Please."

The woman frowned. She liked the idea of being sent things. "I do live here all alone..."

"Yes! Thank you, dear, so kind..." The Queen handed her the baby. "Please take care of her. I am still fond of the little princess," The Queen touched the child with affection.

"Never have I seen a mother so in love with her child, even if she is giving it to a random woman."

The Queen smiled kindly, and then frowned at the last remark. "Take care!"

When the Queen returned, rumors had spread about the child she gave up. People wrote books about it and when the Queen read them, she was surprised at how accurate it was, especially the story by the Healer. She lived in the castle and married the new King.
