Breaking Barriers: Chapter One- History of the Flame

Warning: In this story, there are going to be two boys that like each other, or as I refer to it, yaoi. If you are close minded and hate the thought, get the hell out. If you're open minded, then please do keep reading and... YOU ROCK!

"NOOOOO! Mommy! Daddy!"

A small five year old child struggled against the hands that held him from running back to his parents. His dark red hair went to and fro as he shook his head. Tears spilled from his light red eyes. His cries were heard by his parents, a mother light brown hair and the red eyes the boy had inherited. She was already pregnant with another child. The father had the dark red hair and his eyes were a golden color. Both only held each other and did nothing as their child was dragged away by two men wearing flame resistant armor.

"Please! I promise I'll be good! I won't use my powers any more! Please mommy! Help me!" The boy looked to his father in his cries. "Please daddy! Don't let them take me! I don't want to go! I promise I'll stop! PLEASE!"

The mother cried into her husband's chest, unable to do anything. The father stood, emotionless at the display. His first son, being dragged away because they had not taught him to control what was his. The neighbors had reported him because they were tired of their things bursting into flames.

"MOMMY! DADDY! PLEASE SAVE ME! I DON'T WANNA LEAVE! DON'T LET THEM TAKE ME AWAY!" sobbed the boy.

Eventually he was taken into a black van, still screaming and kicking. Some neighbors were watching. Some muttered "Good riddens." while others nodded their head in sympathy. The rest stood silently as the poor child was driven away. Inside, the child banged on the windows like a mad man.

"Stop! Please! Let me out! I don't want to go!"

"Quiet kid. Now this won't hurt a bit..."

Just as the man was about to give the boy a seditive, the boy turned and glared at him, setting the thing on fire.

"Shit! Put the thing out!"

After a few good stomps, the fire was out. The man pulled out another. "Hold him down."

Arms came out and held the struggling boy. A few flames came and singed their hands and clothes, but they held on. The man pressed a tube of liquid against the boy's neck. His eyes flew open as the liquid drained into him. Almost imeadately, his body relaxed and he slumped.

"I never expected the kid to put up this much of a fight." said the man who administered the seditive.

"Me neither. Good thing we wore the flame resistant stuff." said another.

Outside, as the van drove away, the boy's parents looked on. The mother continued crying.

"Calm down honey. We have another child. We'll raise this one right." said the father as he looked on at the van, slowly disappearing. 'Good bye Kiyuuji. Grow up to be strong for me.'

***Tweleve Years Later***

An eighteen year old boy looked into his mail box at the boarding school. He pushed back a longish chin length strand of crimson hair back behind his ear as he looked through his letters.

"Junk, junk, junk, report card, adminstrative letter for Kiyuuji Fuukemi..." Kiyuuji trailed off as he opened the adminstrative letter. "Dear Mr. Kiyuuji Fuukemi due to blah blah blah... new room mate... blah blah blah... name is Kennji. Hn..." Kiyuuji paused his reading for a minute. "Looks like I scared away that last guy. And all I did was stay quiet. Hn... Looks like I'll actually have to talk to this one."

Kiyuuji took the rest of his mail and headed up to his room where he found the door slightly ajar. He pushed it open. There he found someone putting down boxes. His hair was dark brown and short. He was tall too. Kiyuuji already didn't like the guy. He seemed to happy for his taste, then again, everyone was. Well that was what he got for not associating with anyone what so ever. That too, and the guy was taller than him. He did not want to be babied.

"Ahem." The boy turned to him revealing dark blue eyes. "You must be Kennji."

Kennji rubbed his forehead with his sleeve to get rid of the sweat and he smiled. "Yeah, you must be the mysterious Kiyuuji Fuukemi."

Kiyuuji said nothing, going back to his usual stoic self and sat on his bed. He picked up a book and started reading. Kennji took in the appearance of Kiyuuji. His hair was chin length all around except in front of his face where it fell infront of his eyes. He was in casual clothing at the moment since it was the weekend. A black loose long sleeve shirt and jeans. Nothing special especially considering it was January. The start of a new school year. They were juniors now.

"Hey, do you wanna go down for lunch?" asked Kennji.

Kiyuuji said nothing and continued reading, living up to his anti-social legend. Kennji, however, felt that there was a better side to Kiyuuji based on what he had heard. So, he tried again.

"Come one Kiyuuji! I heard they have pasta today!" said Kennji. Kiyuuji said nothing yet again. "Come on! Please!"

"You can go on your own, can't you?" said Kiyuuji, annoyed with Kennji's behavior.

"No."

"Go."

Kennji pouted. "Come on. You know you want to..."

Kiyuuji glared at him. Kennji seemed unaffected. "Fine, I'm getting hungry anyway."

Kennji's face lit up. "Yay! I win!"

Kiyuuji glared at him which stopped his parade. "You didn't win. I said I was hungry."

Kennji pouted again as they walked down to the dining hall. Kiyuuji walked with his arms crossed across his chest without speaking a word or even looking at his room mate. Inside Kennji's head, however, he was formulating a plan.

'Heh, if you think you can be stoic while I'm around, you're wrong Kiyuuji. I swear that I will not rest until I get you to show everyone how you really are!'

Little did Kennji know about the challenge he gave himself or what he was up against.

And so this one begins! Whee! I think I can do an angst romance... Well not a lot of angst. Just that Kiyuuji has a hard life. But I think I can pull it off, right? Oh well. We'll just have to see what happpens next. I really want to pull it off since I haven't been able to do angst before. Well please review here often so I know if I'm doing a good job so far. And no, it's not an excuse to get a lot of reviews. But please review anyway and tell me what you think.
