So, instead she scribbled down notes in her book, her unusually pale hand flying across the page and looked up at him every once in a while pretending to be looking at the chalk board.
The sun was still holding on to summer, even though two weeks had passed since it's rays had brightened a school child's day. It shone through the window and the exiguous blinds could not keep it out. She took no notice of it, and was not irritated by it as her ashen face would suggest.
"Please bring the forms your parents signed to the front desk" The teacher called from the front of the high school portable.
He opened his bag and pulled out a green sheet of paper, taking the cursed signature up to the front of the room. The signature that proved the existence of all that was keeping her from her heart's only desire. 'I need to talk to you, come outside with me.'
He went, and as they walked towards the door she looked up at him ( for he was much taller). She could see the artery pulsing in his neck and her breath was short.
Outside the Indian summer sun was beating down upon the blacktop.
'You're so pale are you alright?' He took her hand. 'You're cold too…'
Her eyes welled up with tears. 'I can't help who I am'
'They don't understand, they don't even know you! We can make them see!'
They were so close now, she could feel the blood coursing through his veins.
'I have a better solution' She could feel her teeth sharpen in her mouth and her new power rose within her. Her teeth sunk into his neck, penetrating his warm flesh so contrary to hers. 'Now we can be together' She whispered leaving two perfect pinpricks in his skin.
