Evening Orchestra
I nestle in a grassy glade
Tuck dusky air under my chin
Till by and by, day music fades
While wayward constellations spin
And single stars walk all alone
On milky streets that line the sky
Remembering where old friends have shone
Before they flickered out, to die.
I close my eyes and lift my hands
The evening orchestra begins
The sweeping sound of night descends
To cradle trembling fingertips
A whisper is borne on the air
Swept down from sun and stars above
For sister earth and all that's fair
To sleep in comfort, wrapped in love.
