Memories rain down
And fade in great puddles
Beneath my feet

I watch as they trickle away
Farther and farther into
Everywhere
And no where at all

Do I dare follow?

Shall I let myself walk the path
Of what is gone?
Search out the past and
Immerse myself
In the distant callings?

Fading voices
Beat shrewdly at the
Dull edges of my mind

I long to walk
the path
of what I have been,
what I have already claimed
as my own

But I turn my head
To the wash of a crisp wind

And the tangy aroma
Of dew-decked grass
Fills my nostrils

The first breaths
of a new day,
pulling me softly
away

Gradually
Farther and farther away..
Into everywhere
And no where
at all
