One Year Bet

"The Dramatic Makeover"

~~~THREE WEEKS LATER~~~

I bit my lip as Rhaine's words echoed in my brain I knew there was a hidden meaning in that phrase, my instinct felt it. But I decided a while back that I'd deal with Rhaine's hidden agenda when I won our bet. I leaned back heavily on my chair while balancing my pencil on my nose, reader just so you know I did not tell my mom or anybody what the real prize was. I just made up something that made sense to them (although it was kinda hard coming up on the spot with the lie). My mom yelled for me down the hallway,

"ZYNN! YOUR UNIFORM IS HERE!"

I gave a startled yelp and pitched back a little too far backward and fell with a loud ungraceful,

"Ow..."I groaned as I rubbed my sore butt and tender head did she HAVE to be so loud?

"ZYNN YOU HEAR ME? I SAID-"

" I HEARD YOU! I'M COMIN`" I yelled back as I rolled off the floor and slowly climbed to my feet. I did a light jog to the living room where Aki, Lotus, and my mom where waiting for me. Flashing them a grin I greeted them,

"Hey guys what's up?"

"Aww nuthin much! I wanted to be here for your tr-" Aki trailed off a little bit too fast for my taste. I didn't miss the evil glare daggers my mom and Lotus bombarded Aki with. Aki gave a nervous laugh and put his hand behind his head and tiny sweat droplets ran down his face.

This only happens when Aki is hiding something, I glanced at my mom and Lotus narrowing my eyes a bit.

"What is Aki talking about?" I started and was silenced with a loud

"NOTHING !" From both my mom and Lotus. My frown turned into a full scowl something wasn't right here... I could feel it!

Aki, Lotus and my mom were definitely hiding something from me!

"Are you guys' su-"

I began again only to have mom interrupted me by thrusting my Boy's uniform in my arms and all but shoved me into the bathroom.

"Here Zynn dear try this on it should fit its a small boy's uniform."

"Ok but-"

**BAM!**

Went the door as it slammed in my face I stood there for a few seconds blinking then I shook my head and started to change. I looked at the uniform I had put it on, turning this way and that. It was just the right fit mom had picked the right size thought to me I still looked like a girl. I wondered how was I going to pull off being a boy and what mom had in store for the process.

Little did I know I was about to find out.

"You done yet!?" Lotus called from the other side of the bathroom door,

"Yeah I'm comin` hold on!" I replied giving myself one last once-over I opened the door and faced them,

"So... what do you...hey...w-why are you guys looking at me like that!?"

All three of them where starting to surround me I felt like a doe caught in the headlights of three Mack trucks. I cast each of them nervous glances and started to back up, but when my back hit the wall I knew I was doomed.

"Zynn it's going to be all right... We're professionals" Lotus said to me in a soothing tone.

"That's right Zynn there is no need to worry this isn't going to hurt not one bit!" My mom spoke softly to me. I felt dread fill with in me I KNEW they were up to something I knew it! I knew it! I KNEW IT!

"W...w...what are you guys up to!? I know you have something planned so spill it!"

Aki smiled sweetly and gently took hold of my elbow; I flinched slightly but let him lead me to the chair that was in the middle of the living room.

"Zynn..." He was saying, "don't worry we're not planning anything bad, here have a seat in this chair you quite pale."

I looked from Aki, to Lotus, then finally to my mom they all had smiles plastered on their faces.

Something was up.

Looking back on it the chair should have been the final clue.

That and the fact that Aki was on my right, Lotus was on my left... which left my mom... you guessed it right behind me.

"Now Zynn be a good girl and sit completely still... this will only take a moment if you cooperate."

"Yeah Zynn just sit real still and soon it will be all over" Aki chimed in with a bright grin.

"You won't even feel a thing! It will be like 1, 2,3 PROOF! Over and done with!" Lotus said merrily.

I scowled even harder (if that's even possible) giving Aki and Lotus the 'evil eye',

"What are you guys getting at!?" I all but yelled, by now I was filled to the roots of my hair with suspicion.

.

And that's when I heard it.

The most horrible sound in the world!

The sound... of scissors...

I screamed like there was no tomorrow, I would have made a kick ass extra in one of those horror flicks.

"HOLD HER DOWN!" My mom yelled over my shrieks of terror, rage and injustice.

Lotus and Aki where franticly trying to do just that... but apparently I didn't know my own strength.

"NO! NOT MY HAIR! YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" I cried out with all my heart and soul. This was wrong! They should be allowed to do this! Something like this MUST be against the law!

"Zynn calm down! Please your making this worse then it need be!" Aki said in a strained tone.

"Zynn! You can't possibly go to an all boys academy looking like a girl! Rhaine would surely win! Be reasonable!" Lotus pleaded with me but I wasn't listening... I WANTED JUSTICE FOR THIS WRONGFUL ACT!

I glared at Lotus hoping I'd burn a hole into her body,

"REASONABLE...YOU WANT ME TO BE REASONABLE! DO YOU REALIZE JUST HOW LONG IT TOOK ME TO GET MY HAIR LIKE THIS? DO YOU!? AND HAVE THE GALL TO SAY BE REASONABLE!?"

I took a deep breath and screamed with everything I'd had in me,

"THIS IS A FREAKIN` TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE! I WILL NOT LET THE YOU THREE GET AWAY WITH SUCH A TRAITOROUS ACT! SO KAMI HELP ME! I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!"

I heard my mom sigh with mounting frustration as she tried to get a good hold of my hair but couldn't for I kept moving.

"Lotus! Aki! do something! I can't cut her hair with Zynn acting like this! Do something already!" She snapped at them.

Tears where pouring down my cheeks blurring my vision, but I saw Lotus toss a helpless look to Aki and he suddenly sat on me. Its weight made me stop squirming but only a little bit.

"This is not helping do something Aki!" Both Lotus and my mom ordered him curtly, Aki gave me a feeble look then cursed under his breath mumbling something like,

'Sorry Zynn'

I stopped screeching long enough to give him a puzzled look through my blurry tear filled eyes.

"Wha..." Was all I was able to get out before in one swift movement Aki swooped down and kissed me.

Fully.

On the lips.

Tongue and everything.

.

And this wasn't a 'best-friend-smooches' kind of kiss...oh no! I've had those when I was five or six. This reader was a 'I'm-gonna-make-you-want-to-do-some-things-to-me-but-cant-cos-this-is-a-PG13-story' kind of kiss.

Needless to say that I was so bewildered and astonished that I froze solid right one the spot. My tears dried up and everything, I was hardly aware of my surroundings so I barely heard Lotus yell,

"DO IT !"

I was only aware of Aki...and how soft his lips were... WAIT A DAMN MINUTE! I'M NOT SUPPOSE TO BE...

Don't ask me what was I about to say...I honestly don't remember. All I know is that Aki had somehow taken this kiss to another level and that my brain chose to pack up and take a vacation. But I'll tell you this...I discovered that I'm a pretty damn good kisser. AND that I was kissing Aki back and... was liking it!?

Can you believe it?

I had the feeling Aki was enjoying it too for he had pulled me closer to him and made some sort of growl noise that I only heard.

(How? Still to this day I don't know, my heart was pounding in my ears)

"DONE!" My mom cried out in triumph

But I get it a mental shrug and went back to 'Happy Kissie Land' with Aki... that is until my mother gave an over exaggerated clearing of her throat.

"IF you are finished Aki I said that I was done... you can stop...NOW!"

With that Aki and I jumped apart like we were both struck by the same lighting bolt. Blushing furiously I refused to look at any of them especially Aki, I was so embarrassed I didn't know what to do.

My mom only smiled and held up a mirror for me to see what she had done. Gone was my waist long hair. In its place was a style bone straight locks just brushing past my ears. I had to admit it...it did give me a boyish look I gazed up at my mom to see her regarding me smugly.

"It's not as bad as you thought it was going to be was it Zynn?"

I grumbled,

"I want my hair you murdered to be placed in a frame and hung in my room."

My mom laughed glancing at Lotus and Aki (who was looking at everything but me.)

"I think she like's it!"

"THAT'S IT! YOU GOT IT!" Aki cried with excitement.

I smiled tiredly and sighed with satisfaction.

"Finally!...I was beginning to think that I'd never get it!"

Mom and Lotus cheered and I did a mock bow for them,

"Thank you, thank you!"

I sat down and yawned I couldn't hold it back any longer, I'd mastered the talk, the gestures, and finally the walk.

I was damn proud of myself.

"I can't wait to see Rhaine's expression when he see's you Zynn!" Lotus squealed in delight.

I smiled back, "Yeah I know that's a Kodak moment"

Mom glanced at the clock and yawned herself,

"I don't know about you guys but I'm beat... I'm going to bed."

"GOODNIGHT!" The three of us singed our in unison as mom waved and went to her room.

Then we also yawned as well,

"Urgh! Bye Zynn I'm dog-tired and I need my beauty sleep see you tomorrow okay?"

I walked Lotus to her car and waves as she drove off.

Aki had joined me and I was glad it was dark for I felt my cheek heat up.

"Um..well I guess I should go to bed as well... I still have a lot to do tomorrow"

I stated hesitantly.

"Yeah...I know you do.."

Pause

"Zynn...?"

"Y...yes?

"I...never mind see ya tomorrow!"

"Okay!"

I waved him off and started back to my apartment when I heard Aki call out,

"Zynn! wait!"

I turned sharply on my heel and waiting while Aki jogged up to me,

"Yes...?" I said cautiously

Aki smiled and dipped down brushing his lips with mine, it was sweet simple.

" I SEE that! You two!" Lotus voice ranged out as she beeped at us.

Aki and I looked at each other then laughed we stepped apart.

"Goodnight Zynn...sweet dreams.."

I smiled,

"You too!"

"Ooooh! LUV birds!" Lotus giggled at us.

"Shouldn't you be getting you botox injection or something Lo?" Aki chided at her

"Don't make me run you over! Aki!"

I laughed and shook my head in silent laughter.

A/N: I hoped you guys liked that. I laughed my ass off when I wrote the hair cutting part. Hmmm seems like I threw in some twist with Aki kissing Zynn. And that's only the BEGINNING! *bwhahahaha!*

Next chap will be split up btw Rhaine and Zynn and MAYBE Aki I don't know.
