I was flying through super mode. The only thought that flashed in my mind like a blinking neon sign was Solaris.
Solaris was an herb that could kill a MoonWalker. There's a 50% chance that the person would live, but there was still a 50% chance that they could die. I'm not completely sure on all the effects of Solaris has on a being, but I do know that it causes the body temperature to fluctuate, the person to become extremely tired, the mind to think differently, to have the symptoms of a high fever, and to have uncontrollable spasms and convulsions.
Tide was slowing down, worrying me further.
" Aris, slow down-I'm starting to get tired."
" Keep moving Tide! Oh Lady help us please!"
We barreled into the mansion, surprising my brother.
" What in the-"
" Deimos! Take this!" I stated hurriedly, stuffing the pearl into his hands. " I've got to get Tide home! Beam drugged him."
" Lady's hellfire! With what?" Deimos demanded. As much as he disliked letting me hang out with Tide, his dislike for Beam rivaled mine.
" Solaris." I stated, not able to hide the rapidly growing worry from me eyes. Deimos bit his lip, a habit he had always had since he was little.
" Go then. I'll get this to mom. I'll swing by later."
I nodded, calling up another portal.
" Thanks bro, I owe you!" I called over my shoulder, continuing my exercise spree.
I got Tide to his home as fast as I could. Explaining the dilemma to his relatives there, I hoped the healer would come fast enough. Minutes passed, but still no healer. I beat my fist in frustration upon the wall. I was a healer, not a certified one, but I could heal. Heart pounding, I asked for different herbs. It was a slow task of preparing an antidote. Each second that ticked by felt like lead in my gut. I became more and more anxious, and more and more exhausted.
Finally I went over and sat at Tide's bedside. He was pale, and his breathing was shallow. Every so often the shuddering convulsions that were typical of Solaris overcame Tide, and with a grim determination I tended to him.
" Damn I hate Beam." I muttered darkly, folding my arms. To my surprise, a strange mark appeared on Tide's forehead, glowing with an eerie neon incandescence. It was a skull, with two sticks crossing through it, and four points coming out from the four cardinal points, the four directions. Between each gap of stick and spike was a strange letter or symbol.
Gingerly I put two fingers to it. It was warm to the touch. Thinking I would sleep on it and discover what it was later, I closed my eyes and leaned back against the chair. Sometime later I heard Tide thrash about. Quickly I opened my eyes. It took a minute for my eyes to adjust before I saw what was going on. Someone wearing a hood was hauling him out of bed and into a portal.
As I bolted up, the hood fell back, revealing unruly red hair. Beam.
" What are you doing?" I cried, running after them, into the portal without thinking. It was black all around, shadows forming the whole tunnel. I tried catching up to them, but I couldn't. When I got close enough to Tide, reaching out my hand, he was yanked away. Finally I collapsed on the shadowy ground, beating my fists upon the ebony surface. Hot tears streamed down my face.
" Aris-help!" I heard Tide call, but there was nothing I could do.
I jerked awake, my eyes adjusting to the light. Thank goodness it was just a dream. Relief flooded through me like water through a floodgate. But then I saw his bed. Empty. I looked around his room for him. Nothing. I put a hand to my face. It came away wet. Realization dawned on me and I rushed out of his room to the top of the stairs.
Expectant, but confused faces peered up at me as I caught my breath.
" Is something wrong Aris?" My brother asked. He had made it here like he promised. I swallowed the lump in my throat.
" Tide's gone."
~* Sorry! Sorry! I know you all hate cliffhangers, but that's how it ended up! I swear! Besides, cliffhangers are a great way to keep you interested so you'll want to read the conclusion. Either that or I piss you off so much you don't read anything of mine anymore. But don't worry, the last one will not be a cliff hanger. On my honor, and my sanity! And my other ficcie is not a cliffhanger. So, to get down to business. The title of the last story in my trilogy * pauses and looks down at the paper in hand to check if I'm right* MoonWalkers: The Next Dimension. Yes, my brilliant mind came up with that one too. You'll want to check that one out, cause I promise you, it's nothing like the previous ones. In terms of plot. Other than that, I stick to my writing style, which could be a good thing or a bad thing. I am probably going to have an 'extra author notes' section in the sequel to the sequel in which I can answer questions, put up comments or explanations, and how you pronounce certain names! Well, see you then. Hope you stay tuned! Buh-byez!*~
