The yearly day that comes and goes
is Easter at its best
the woman that I loved the most
has unfortunately passed
The woman I called everyday
called me "Chickylovey"
or else that often word she used
comparing me to honey
The yearly day that comes and goes
is Easter at its best
the woman that I loved the most
has unfortunately passed
The one who always made me pray
on this Easter Day
I remember holding her soft hands
learning how to say
the prayer that she knew so well
on this special day
the one which I would try to learn
but could care less today
The yearly day that comes and goes
is Easter at its best
the woman that I loved the most
has unfortunately passed
Grandma I called this woman
Every single day
I called her just once more
but this time to just say
I will miss you when you pass
was your life that good?
She responded with a yes
and a heavy sigh that could
make me tear from my eye
which she did not mean
the happiness that was in me
she wanted to stay keen
The yearly day that comes and goes
is Easter at its best
the woman that I loved the most
has unfortunately passed
I look at her in the home
knowing that she feels
nothing of the painful sort
stinging her like eels
but she is still so stiff
nothing that I like
I see her casket finally close
and say a sweet goodbye
The yearly day that comes and goes
is Easter at its best
the woman that I loved the most
has unfortunately passed
No more "Chickeylovey"
will I hear today
I'll have to hope she's looking
for me on that day
The yearly day that comes and goes
is Easter at its best
the woman that I loved the most
has unfortunately passed...
