I was but a child,
Not a woman, nor a man.
I stood in corners
Watched friend's play games
Sat in chairs
Listened to chit chat
I was all alone in this cruel world
Until that hand rescued me
It pushed me into this world
Forced me to be in the light
And just as I was settling in
You took it away
And left me to myself
What was good, now gone
What was light, now dark
I was but a girl
Not young nor grown
I sat in groups playing games
But quietly questioning it all
Ate with friends and we talked
But silently despising your very name
I hated you
But no more
For you don't exist
And never will.
You'll never get the chance
To control me again.
