I looked at my watch, smiling at the time. One oclock. In less than four hours I would be out of this hell hole and on with the rest of my life. My heart rate was through the roof as I readied myself. I already dressed myself all in white, hoping that it would help to camoflouge me, as all the walls in the clinic were white.
I'm scared. I am actually terrified. So much could go wrong. What if this is some elaborate trap? I know that it must sound ridiculous to be frightened, but my parents have put me through hell, and it wouldn't surprise me if they could buy anyone, even someone who is practically related to Jack.
Jack. My precious Jack. I can't wait to hold him in my arms again. To feel his lips upon mine in the most heavenly kiss I can remember. I sigh, and sit up in my bed. Sleeping is futile. It's not going to happen. I go to the bathroom, I watch some more television. I wait.
Eleven is lights out. She's just done bed checks right on schedule. I was in bed, wrapped up in the covers, just as I was supposed to be. Now it was time to wait. Again.
At 2:14 I was standing just inside my bedroom door, which was cracked, just a sliver, so I would have an unobstructed view of the bathroom door. Ture to Greg's word, at exactly 2:15, Nurse Abby Jones entered the restroom and I took off running., in my socks of course, so that no one would here me. I went through the first door easily, but I was a little more careful through the second door. I stood, watching the monitors flicker until I heard soft snoring coming from the security office. I tiptoed past, checking to make sure he was indeed sleeping and walked out the door.
I could smell freedom in the air as I walked toward the fence. I heard a car pull up, a familiar car. I smiled, I was home free. Jack jumped out of the drivers seat and went around to the trunk. He pulled out a ladder. My brother opened the door to the passenger seat and popped out after folding down the seat and helping Ginnie out.
Jack placed the latter against his side of the fence, climbed over and threw his arm around my waist and kissed me breathless.
"Let's blow this pop stand," he said, pulling me to the ladder. I went over the ladder and Jeremy caught me on the other side and Jack went over after me, jumping down from the top. Ginnie and I jumped into the backseat together, as Jack and Jeremy threw the ladder in the trunk and jumped into the car. Jack put the car in gear and we raced away from my personal hell.
We stopped at this Denny's and I ordered a huge cheeseburger, fries, onion rings, and a huge vanilla shake. Jeremy and Ginnie just looked at me amazed and Jack smiled. "Hungry, babe?"
"You guys have no idea." They all laughed as I continued. "I haven't eaten a decent meal in forever."
"You haven't been in there that long, Nat," Jeremy said, snatching one of my onion rings. I slapped his hand and said "Order your own." which drew another round of laughter from them all. Then I froze. Chad had just walked in with his arm around my former best friend, Sinclair. I almost choked on my french fry. He looked up and saw me and I saw rage flash in his eyes. By that time my brother and Jack saw what, or rather who I was looking at. They both stood as Chad came over here.
"What the fuck are you doing out of the loony bin, Natalie?"
"Eating a cheeseburger, you asshole."
"Nice comeback, bitch." I opened my mouth to say everything I had ever wanted to say to him when Jack slammed his fist into Chad's face. Chad's nose must have broken because blood was pouring out.
"Come on, Jack. That was so mine. I'm the big brother."
"Well, Jeremy, what do you say we take him outside and kick the living shit out of him."
"Sounds like a plan to me, Nat do you mind?"
"Not at all, but could you be quick about it. I was kind of hoping to get some sleep before the sunrises."
"Leave my boyfriend alone, you slut," Claire says, spitting at me.
"Oh no you didn't. You did not just call me a slut. Claire, dear, don't forget I know about the football team gangbang that went on when your parents went to Aruba."
"You bitch!" she screamed racing towards me, when Ginnie tripped her.
"Geez, sweetie, you gotta be more careful when you're wearing those heals. Especially when you're so clumsy. Let's get out of here, Nat." Ginnie handed the waiter/clerk a fifty and told him to keep the change, if he didn't see anything. He nodded and smiled. We collected the guys and left, driving off into the sunrise.
It was the best day of my life.
The End
*******A/N*******
I honestly didn't know that this was going to be the end of the story. I started writing this chapter not even sure where I wanted the story to go. I'll probably do a sequel or perhaps a prequel with Ginnie and Jeremy. Or maybe both. I really like these characters. I hope you guys enjoyed this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thanks to my reviewers. You kept me writing this story.
