My Country

(Crikey! What a mess!)

They've been here since forever,
Living on the plains.
A land full of spirits,
Was running through their veins.
Then the white man came,
And changed the heart-land.
The white man did not love her,
They did not understand.
A land of outside dunnies,
And men in floppy hats.
Where children gobble Vegemite,
And VB makes men fat.
Mum's done her hair in rollers,
Ready for Sunday's Do.
Family's shoved in the Holden Ute,
Watch out for kangaroos!
We'd love a peaceful country,
Where justice reigns supreme.
Where our people's view are heard;
And not George Bush's dream.
Will we hear the drumming of the army?
And no longer sounds of glee?
Will her beauty be stained with terror?
Will the wide, brown land stay free?
