Chapter Two

Tyler

Allie is harder to get rid of than the common cold! All day she's followed me around and I swear she skipped one of her classes just to be in one of mine!

"So anyway," She twirled her auburn hair in her free hand, the hand that wasn't wrapped around my arm cutting off all circulation to my fingers. Allie's words were all gibberish to me until she reached a tantalizing topic.

"Lori was like reading my mind or something today! It was freaky!"

"Lori?" I asked interested in hearing something other than about Allie. "Are you two still close friends?" an expression of disappointment flickered across Allie's face at the fact that my attention was returned when she uttered the name of Lori.

"Yes, Tyler," she glared at me for a moment, "so as I was saying . . ." Two of Allie's friends walked up to her and me as we sat on the stairs at the front of the school.

"Hey Allie." Erica stepped forward of the two and grabbed Allie's hand. For a moment I felt a glint of hope. Maybe Allie was going to leave.

"Excuse me for a second Tyler!" Allie blushed and giggled as she turned to her friends, her expression changing immediately as she spoke to her friends.

"What are you doing?" she spat through gritted teeth. Yes, I could hear them. Yes I was eavesdropping. No, I don't really care. Yes, I was really bored.

"Um, you asked us to meet you here after school." Lily spoke up. "We were going to the mall, remember!" Allie paused for a second. She seemed to be in deep thought . . . if that was possible for her of course. Something seemed to flicker in her brain, for her face was no longer scrunched but didn't seem like she would ever leave my side.

"Yeah I remember, I just don't want to go anymore." Allie had known Lily and Erica since she was in the fifth grade. Everyone knew they could read her like an open book with large print.

"Yeah, you just want to stay here with Ty." Erica mocked.

"Well Lori said that he would be the next person I dated so . . ."

"I didn't say Tyler was going to be the next person you dated!" Lori walked into the scene and I found myself staring at her, after her.

"Yes you did!" Allie nodded furiously. "I asked you who I was going to date next and you said . . ."

"I didn't say anything Allie. I'm not psychic!" With that Lori left her best friend and the rest and walked over to where I was. I quickly straightened up and pretended to be all nonchalant.

"You're a book Metski." Lori said to me as she sat beside me. All I did was give her a quizzical look, but I know she knew me better than that.

"I know you were eavesdropping so don't even try to hide it!" She chuckled. My Lord did she look hot when she smiled, and laughed, and chuckled, and giggled, and…

Lori shoved me lightly, causing me to lose my balance and fall off the last step. I landed hard on the extremely cold floor I like to call my friend, the cement.

"Wow, Metski needs to work on his balance!" She joked staring at my expression. "You like the cement there?"

I rolled my eyes, trying to remain calm.

"Yes, the cement is my friend." I said as I started to rub the ground. I brushed off myself as I pulled myself up slowly. I had forgotten all about Allie until I heard her perky voice.

"Oh my gosh!" Allie came running towards me. You think for someone in grade eleven she wouldn't be so girly, childish, and naïve but sometimes you have to let people surprise you. "Tyler what happened?" She grabbed my arm again, squeezing it lifeless.

"I fell." I mumbled, not caring much.

"I pushed him and he lost his balance and fell." Lori jumped in, laughing pretty hard at my predicament.

"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up girls!" I sat back down on the steps, my arm still caught in Allie's.

"Come on Allie," Lori rose from the steps; she grabbed Allie's free hand and pulled Allie with her. "Let's go! Lily and Erica are waiting." With that she dragged Allie away from me.

"Bye Tyler!" Allie yelled to me as she was dragged away. I managed a small wave but when Lori looked back to say bye I manage to put together a smile with the wave. God, she's beautiful.

"Yo man," Someone said behind me. I turned around and saw it was someone I knew.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked.

"Nothing, I just saw you staring at that girl over there." He replied.

"The girl you bumped into this morning?"

"Yeah, that one."

"Can you blame me? She's almost a goddess to me."

"I think its all about looks with her for you." He stated giving me a look of disappointment. "Do you even know her that well?"

"Yeah, I would think so since I met her in 9th, so it's been at least two years."

"Yeah but I mean really know her? I mean she can probably be a total bitch."

"I highly doubt it."

"If you say so. Just don't go falling for her without really getting to know her, and I don't mean sexually." He laughed and I joined.

"Okay." I agreed. "Wait, you must like her if you're telling me not to fall for her."

"I don't even know her name so why would I like her."

"Because she's hot."

"See it is all about looks for you!"

"No."

"Yeah, okay. I'm leaving now. Cya."

"Bye." I replied watching him grab his bike and ride off.

Maybe he's right. Maybe it is just her looks.
