We spend all our lives
struggling,
trying,
yearning,
wanting,
for that special thing,
we call 'normal'

To fit in,
to not stand out,
to blend in with the croud-
we want our due of attention,
for our special
attributes,
and yet, when it comes,
we shy from it.

"It's too much of a good thing,"
we say,
"I don't deserve this."
And humbly walk away.
The norm.

Yet we aren't normal-
face the facts,
it just can't be.
Did you ever think
of how few of us are,
of how... in being unique,
we are normal...
that the norm IS unique?

No.
Sorry.
That makes my little head hurt.
I'd rather not.
Don't like to think about it.

Think about what?
The fact that it's pointless?

No.
Sorry.
Head's still pounding.

Think about that the norm
IS unique?
Fine.
Go on, be that way.
Stay ignorant,
asleep,
foolish.
Keep trying...
Hmmm? Normal yet?
No. And yes.

Goodnight.

I hope you enjoyed this. It's one of the rants that I go through, looking
at the so called 'popular' and 'normal' ones at school, who go around
staring at us 'nerds' and 'freaks'. Oh joy! Come look at the freak show!
Step right up! Look at the nerds! Calling all normal ones... but little
do they know... the freaks aren't the ones behind bars...
