Couldn't think of a Title

Today was so weird. . . I was in Social Studies, my first hour class, and we got really off topic and started talking about the origins of some things that are commonly accepted in our culture.

For instance: Saying, "bless you," when someone sneezes came from the Medieval Times, back when people were superstitious and believed that evil spirits came in your body when you sneezed. The hand-covering-your-mouth thing goes along with that to; you were trying to keep evil spirits out.

And: The old nursery rhyme, "There was an old woman that lived in a shoe; she had so many kids, she didn't know what to do," is a political satyr. The old lady is the Queen, and the kids are English citizens.

^_^ I feel so educated now.
