NEW YORK ~ Winter
often I wish I was anywhere but here
then I realize I like the taste of winter
the public show of Christmas lights
the changing of the seasons
the south and the west cost,
they might like their year round tan
I noticed, recently I don't give a damn
this here is the center of the world
There's nothing as beautiful as
New York in the winter, the burning lights
seem to warm the cold sky,
take the place of the stars that don't show
the sky is red from the snow
Time square is lovely, the Broadway shows still going
and if you take a walk by the water
its quiet and serene you wouldn't know where you are
and sure your freezing you're ass off
but its worth it, to taste winters bite
And look up and the glorious . . . everything.
and feel like your also towering to the sky
a skyscraper inside, where no one can see
you can think of the summer,
and plan for the best on a bench in central park
while your sipping on some hot coco
listening to Christmas carols is nice no matter what you are
the street lights make the city sing in gold
follow the pathway to those American dreams of old
the sky painted in red white and blue
we tilt our heads to see the eagle soar
