Why do I wait inside thy darkness?
What do my starved eyes wish to see?
Where does thy stream flow, and to what harness
Can I owe thy sanctimonity?
My soul still flows within thee, Hades,
My God of shredded flames and sighs.
Thy worship hides still no surprises:
'Tis fit for only tears and lies.
I wait and dreams still die forever
Inside my bloodied mind so cold,
Reborn on love's altar whenever
A phrase or smile my eyes behold.
