"Who was that, and what was he doing here?" Gavyn asked cooly after watching the figure dissappear.
"Rinan Ol'Imry. Second Fist of Power to the... FireShadow." Cadence repeated the line she had used previously, with a variation at the end.
"Second Fist? Him? But, he looked like he was afraid of me...or you! The Second Fist is said to be ruthless and stealthy. This battle could be won in a matter of moments if the DarkFire appoints leaders like that one." He said jesturing towards where the man had once stood.
Cadence had bent over Fianne in hopes of waking her or finding what was wrong with her. "You under estimate him. Both the DarkFire and Rinan. The DarkFire would never appoint someone who wasn't fit for the job." She said, pouring a glass of water over Fianne's face with worry. Yet another failed attempt. "He shows no mercy, and no favor. The mind of MadFire is twisted and dark. He wants power, just like any ruler. Or any dictator. But he is the only one who will go to the bottom of the earth to get it. Literally. If you think Rinan is slow and stupid, your sure to die at his hands. And keep in mind the Evil One has had up to thirteen different Fists at one time. Right now I believe he should have Seven of them, an eigth is in the process of Resedemption. It can all be explained later. Gavyn.." She paused, for the first time looking up into his crystal eyes from where she sat on the floor. " I don't know what this dart had on it." She exclaimed, trying to find a less painful way to pull it out of Fianne's shoulder. "He said it wouldn't kill her but.."
Gavyn nodded. Not even staying to question who the girl laying on the floor was. "I'll go for Aldara." And he was off.
Cadence felt awful waking the woman who had so recently collapsed in fatigue. But she was at a loss of what to do. If she knew Aldara like she thought she did, the woman would know exactly what poison or whatever it was, Rinan had used on the dart.
Within moments Aldara appeared through the common-room door. She seemed in better condition then before-hand, but still weary looking. Aldara smiled and strolled smoothly across the room towards Cadence. Placing her hands on Cadence's face she kissed her forehead.
"Welcome child, now They have excepted you, now do I, as well." A flash of familiarity crossed Cadence's mind, as she recognized these words. The words that were normally used to welcome a Wielder into the Circle of Elements. The anointment would normally be an important ancient ceremony, however, Cadence knew this could not be arranged at the moment. Aldara only did it because if Cadence would not receive a Wielder's blessing by dawn Cadence would never have a chance to be placed as an Everlest- one of the three Wielders who hold authority in the Circle of Elements.
As if nothing important had happened, Aldara turned her attention swiftly to Fianne who lay breathing softly on the floor. "What happened? I thought we had taken care of all-"
"It was Rinan." Cadence cut-in, much too rudely for an ignorant Wielder. Not even a Wielder actually. Cadence reminded herself that now she would have to hold her tongue and show Aldara more respect.
"The Second Fist?" Aldara asked baffled.
"He decided to stop by and give our friend here a visit." Gavyn commented. He had stood behind Aldara watching calmly all the while.
"You? Did he come for you, or for this girl?" She asked Cadence.
"Me, I think. He kept calling me 'the One' almost like he knew I was here, and why I am here."
Aldara crouched beside Fianne's wounded shoulder, examining the dart.
"That can not be a good thing. The minute they know more about our own then we know ourselves...it is a bad sign. Trouble will ensue." Aldara said. Her fingers gentley traced over the breaks in Fiane's skin. Cadence watched her call on the elements, the way she knew only Wielders could see and feel. Presently she felt her campanions, water, fire and earth fill the room with their warmth. She also sensed Aldara missed the Wind's presence, just like Cadence.
"I know." Was all she could say at the moment. She was intent on learning from Aldara what she didn't already know. The Bonds weaved and tangled in familiar way Cadence had once only pictured in her imagination.
Gavyn spoke up from behind. To him, he could only see a faint glow around the more mature woman. "If he is after you then why did he shoot her?"
"Fianne." Cadence thought the name over in her mind. Then she chose to explain to Gavyn who the young unconscious woman was without revealing too much of the her past. "Fianne, is likely capable of challenging Anwynd with a sword match. Possibley beating him too. She's yet another person I highly recommend that you don't under estimate. Rinan probably knew this, and decided to get rid of her quickly. Though how he knew of her, I don't know."
Gavyn was a little shocked to hear that this Fianne girl was as dangerous as Cadence made her seem. Women always have a way of standing up for each other. He highly doubted anyone, much less this mere girl could challenge Anwynd. Or even himself. If she ever woke up he'd be sure to test Cadence's word.
Aldara's glow began to fade, and all at once she tore the dart out of Fianne's shoulder. The girl started up suddenly.
"Why it is about time. My daylight! And all this while I was sleeping and I kept wishing I would have said pull the dart out immediately and I-" She stopped abruptly, brushing her legs off as she rose. "Who are you?" She directed her attention towards Gavyn and Aldara.
"Fianne, this is Gavyn, and that is Aldara, she's a Wielder, and she's the one who... tore the dart out."
"Thank you, you know, it's quite irritating to be able to think but not do."
"Your welcome, Fianne. That dart had Immerise roots on it, mixed with something I am not familiar with. But I do know what ever it was, you could have been stuck in that restless sleep for an extremely long time. Luckily I retracted it just before it circulated completely."
"Well, that is nice."
A sudden curiosity spread across Aldara's features. "Where did you come from?" Only Cadence caught the alarmed look that spread across Fianne's features for less then a split second. She had turned to her new friend's face expecting some flicker of emotion to show.
Fianne chose to answer simpley. "I came to help when I saw the Warriors."
At this Gavyn stepped forward. "You mean to say you fought with us, and came back unharmed?" His expression seemed almost sarcastic if not surprised.
Fiane paid no mind to his mocking tone, and simply turned her head to examine her arm "Well, see, this one man with a spear he got me a bit here..." She mumbled to herself, something about paying closer attention when fighting more then two or three people. "I actually arrived rather late, by the time I got there half the Warriors were being carried back, but I couldn't stand there and watch us lose. Not to those beasts." Fianne kept rambling on half to herself, half out loud. Still examining the small scratch on the back of her right arm. All the while Gavyn's eyebrow raised skeptically at her, sending occasional glances towards Cadence who stood, with a crooked smile, slightly amused with Fiane's aloofness.
All of the sudden, in the midst of good humor, a loud pounding came from the front door of the Inn. The four sets of eyes met, and not one foot stepped towards the door before the pounding came again. "Oh bloody..." Fianne exclaimed and moved impatiently across the room. "Coming!" She called in a clearly annoyed tone. As if she were answering the door to her house. The manners of a princess don't change no matter how many weapons she carries, Cadence mused.
As Fianne opened the inn door, three faces peaked over her shoulder. The sight that came before them was not in the least what they expected to see. Cadence had certainly expected a monster of a man to barge through the doorway any moment, with the pounding rage that had been merciless let out on the door moments ago. Instead, before them stood a short fragile-looking woman with long sleek brown hair that hung down her back and fell in front by the collar of her daringly low-cut deep red dress which hung tightly to her every curve. The ruby red smile that spread across her face had caused a rush of blood to poor Gavyn's cheeks. His eyes already hungrily devouring her over again. It was not long before the three women in the door absolutely detested the being that stood before them. If looks could kill, the girl in red would have died three times over.
"Hello. My name is Morriella." She said soft and sweetly.
