My Life

What I was promised,

Came far too early.

For now it's too late,

Like death, all surly.

What is now falling,

Like snow to the ground,

Is never to be

In the lost and found.

I look in a mirror,

And what do I see?

Nothing but blackness,

So dark behind me.

I'm struggling so hard,

Through hours of day,

And it brings me naught,

But a bit to say.

The birds sing away,

And I hear their speech,

Above, only they,

To me, truly teach.

So now I am done,

All ready for bed,

It's all completed,

A rest for my head.

Yet dawn, it will come,

Day bringing new light,

And I'll be ready,

To give what is right.
