I know why the caged bird sings
Not a song of joy as it should be
But a song of hope from deep within
That bursts out again and again
To dance, joyfully, into the afternoon
To rest, dreaming, under the moon
To watch, shaking, brand new life
To wait, paitently, for the suns bright light
To rise, trembling, above the trees
Over the grasslands and past the seas
No place is too far, no distance too much
Nothing it can't reach, no person it can't touch
You cannot lie to me, I know the truth
There's nothing is this world that I can't do
And there's nothing these eyes gave not seen
For I know why the caged bird sings.
(Author's Note: I wrote this with my character Lili in mind, although I was kind of thinking of Matt too. Lili has the crest of Sight and later of Strength, and this poem describes her well. She's in my fic Zero: The Fool)
