Episode 13 - Akira, Komaru, and Shukuko
Shukuko stepped back, her eyes wide and terrified. She shook her head wildly, backing away until she bumped into the coatrack. Komaru stepped protectively between her and the man at the door.
"Who the hell are you?" he growled. "Leave my mother alone!"
The man tossed back his head and laughed. "My dear boy! I have every right to speak with your mother - I am Tomoe Akira. Do you know who I am? I'm your father."
Silence reigned. Setsuya peeked around the couch, jaw agape and eyes wide, not even noticing the GAME OVER screen flashing impatiently. Shukuko was trembling visibly from head to toe, huddled against the wall. And Komaru just looked stunned beyond belief.
It was then that Mitsuharu arrived, sucking on a Popsicle and dancing to whatever tune was playing on her headphones. When she saw a moustached, bespectacled man in the doorway of the penthouse, her curiosity was instantly roused. Who could it be? Komaru had very few visitors indeed - he preferred to keep it that way - so this someone had to be pretty important. However, she was surprised when she reached the door and saw what was going on. Komaru and the stranger were glaring at each other, and Shukuko was cowering against the coatrack. Mitsuharu could have sworn the temperature around the door was at least twenty degrees cooler than the rest of the hall, which was saying something in this air-conditioned building.
"A-anno... Komaru-kun... is this a bad time?" she asked hesitantly. Everyone turned to look at her, and she shivered as the guest's eyes landed on her. He had a very cool air about him, but there was also something Mitsuharu couldn't put a finger on - all she knew was that this guy was bad news. Quickly, Komaru reached out and pulled her inside.
"No, no, come in - he was just leaving, weren't you?" Komaru directed this last to the man at the door, whose frown deepened.
"Are you daring to send me away, boy?"
"Yes! Get out of here, and if you ever come near me or my mother again, I swear I'll kill you." Komaru's voice and gaze were steel. "You have no right to barge in on people like this, especially if they don't want you around. Get lost now, or I'll call building security." He slammed the door in Akira's face and turned to Shukuko. "Mother... are you all right?"
Shukuko nodded bravely, then burst into tears. Komaru hastily guided her to the couch and handed her a box of tissues. Mitsuharu plopped down on the floor beside Setsuya and asked, "What's going on?"
"I'll tell you what's going on," Komaru growled. "That bastard - that one you saw just now - that's my father, apparently. He showed up out of nowhere and scared us all half to death. He thinks... just because he's my father... does he actually dare to believe that I'd fall all over myself trying to welcome him into my home? That I'd willingly hand my mother over to him?" He sighed and blew his bangs off his forehead in frustration. "That I'd really want to have a relationship with the man who ruined my mother's life?"
Shukuko blew her nose. "You're such a good boy, Komaru," she said softly. "Trying to protect me like this. But you don't know him. You've only made him angry by refusing to acknowledge him, and by telling him you'll kill him. He'll be biding his time, I know it, just waiting to do something nasty!" She tossed another wad of tissues into the wastebasket and pulled out fresh ones. "I can't understand how he found me," she said miserably. "I promised myself I'd never have to see him again - that's why I changed my name and moved away - why I never put his name on your birth certificate, Komaru. I didn't want there to be the slightest chance possible that he could find us. But he d-did... he did. How? How could he do t-this?"
Her musings were broken by a fresh storm of weeping, and Komaru hugged her tightly. "I don't know, Mother. But nasty people are like burrs. When you want them gone, that's when they stick the most." His jaw tightened. "Believe me, I'll find out exactly where he got his information, and I swear I'll make life hell for anyone who helped him."
Tomoe Akira strolled back to his hotel, a fierce scowl plastered on his face. He was lost in thought, seething with anger. The nerve of that little punk - what was the world coming to, that sons had no respect for their fathers? And what right did Shukuko have to deny him, either? If it weren't for him, she wouldn't even have a son to protect her. He ground his teeth furiously, and something else popped into his head - that boy, the one who had told him where Shukuko was - didn't he say she had another son? He knew this second child wasn't his, but there was a good possibility that this other son could help him get Shukuko back. He stopped beside a pay phone. What did he say his name was? Ike... Ikebana... Iko... Idane! That was it. Idane Hiroshi.
Akira stepped into the phone booth and flipped through the directory. There were several Idanes listed, but only one of them was a Hiroshi. Smiling, Akira popped some change into the phone and dialed the number. He waited impatiently as it rang. After the tenth ring, someone finally picked up. It sounded like a woman.
"Konnichi wa, Obuchi Manor, Idane Yonemi speaking."
Another Idane. Perhaps it was Hiroshi's wife? "Konnichi wa. This is Tomoe Akira - is Idane Hiroshi available?"
"Just a minute." Muffled scraping sounds and murmuring from the other end; finally, the phone was picked back up.
"Hello, Pops. What's up?"
Akira growled mentally at the kid's attitude. "I've got to speak to you about something very important."
"It better damn well be important. I was in the middle of something." Hiroshi was, in fact, in bed with Rain, and it had made him decidedly grumpy to be interrupted by a phone call. Rain giggled mistily, playing with his hair.
"I need to see that other child you mentioned. That other son of Shukuko's!" Akira's voice was so loud Hiroshi had to hold the phone away from his ear, and Rain blinked rapidly at the sound of his mother's name.
"Now why would you want to do that, Pops?" Hiroshi asked carelessly. "I gave you the address to your little wifey and her son -"
"She's not my wife, and you know it," Akira snarled. "And that son of mine threw me out when I asked to talk to them."
"That's too bad," Hiroshi shrugged, switching the phone to his other ear. "At least you gave it the old college try. Ja." His hand moved toward the table, but Akira's voice barked from the receiver.
"Dammit, Idane - don't hang up on me -"
"I wanna talk to him," Rain begged, reaching for the phone. "Please?"
Hiroshi grinned and handed it to him, before yawning and sitting up. Rain beamed and turned his attention to the man on the phone. "Hello... who is this?"
Akira was taken aback by the smooth, silky voice on the other end. "Tomoe Akira. Who is this?"
"Rain, famous supermodel, at your service," the young man replied. "I know who you are now. You're my brother's daddy, aren't you?"
"Yes!" It was about time, Akira thought to himself. "Mizoguchi Komaru. He's living with his mother in Tokyo - or rather, she's living with him. Idane hinted you have something to do with them - are you and your brother close?"
"Not at all, but does that really make a difference?" Rain rolled over onto his stomach, tapping his pearl-painted sequined nails against the headboard. "What's on your mind, Tomoe-sama?"
A cruel smile played across Akira's lips. "I can't tell you that right now - I'm on a pay phone and my time's almost up. Why don't we get together? Say, at my hotel room?"

Tachibana High School
"I can't believe it."
Mitsuharu and Setsuya were sitting outside the school, munching on convenience store rice balls and discussing Komaru's father quietly. Mitsuharu was shaking her head. "There's no way anyone that scary could be Komaru-kun's father. He's nothing at all like Komaru-kun. He's... I dunno. There's something about him. Bad karma."
Normally, they would have giggled over that, because 'karma' made them think of 'caramel'; instead, they fell silent, thoughtfully chewing. It seemed like the arrival of Tomoe Akira had cast a gloom over their lives. It had been scant days since the man had appeared on their doorstep, and it was easy to see how he had affected them. Shukuko always looked tired and peaky, jumping at small noises and prone to cringing away from anyone who tried to touch her. Komaru was moody and silent, and always seemed to have his mind on something. Try as he might, Setsuya couldn't seem to break his lover out of his funk. Komaru was even strangely preoccupied during lovemaking, and Setsuya had given up on using that to attract his attention. Sex just wasn't as enjoyable when one's partner didn't even notice one was there.
The two teenagers stuffed their trash into the nearest rubbish bin and shouldered their bags, trudging slowly through the packed halls to their classroom.
"Why would he even want to show up after all this time?" Mitsuharu said softly as they sank into their seats.
"No idea. I thought he was after Komaru-kun's money, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all," Setsuya replied, keeping his voice low so that Kishi Megumi and her group of friends couldn't hear. "He's rich enough on his own, anyway. No... I think he just wants Shukuko-san..."
"Why?" Mitsuharu looked upset. "She hasn't done anything to him!"
"Besides bear him a son," Setsuya murmured. "Do you know any man who would willingly give up his son? It's like the really traditional families... the ones who still do things the old-fashioned way. None of those men would give up their son, especially if he was the only one. I think Tomoe-san has something... unsavoury in mind. Maybe he just wants to marry Shukuko-san against her will. I wish I knew what he was up to..."
Their math teacher entered the room and Setsuya and Mitsuharu snapped to attention. Komaru's father wasn't so easy to forget, however...
"Don't you work?" Akira asked in a rather disgruntled tone, after opening his door to find Hiroshi standing in the hall.
"I'm working right now, Pops," Hiroshi replied easily. "I brought you your wife's other kid. I thought that's what you wanted. But if you've changed your mind..."
"No!" Akira said quickly. "Come in."
He stepped aside, letting Hiroshi into his room. Behind Hiroshi came a tall young man with long, bright green hair and light blue eyes. Very familiar light blue eyes... eyes just like Shukuko's. He was dressed in a tight pair of designer jeans and a satin shirt that looked very expensive. He was wearing makeup and jewelry too. What was it with these boys? Akira wrinkled his nose slightly. Even his own son was a fruit. It must be something wrong with their mother, he concluded, since both her boys were homosexual despite having different fathers. It certainly wasn't his fault.
Rain winked at him as he slipped off his elegant long coat and draped it across the bed. "So you're Onii-chan's father," he marveled. "You're very handsome."
Akira glared. "I didn't ask you here for idle flattery."
"No, you didn't. I like my men small and sweet, and besides," Rain purred. "You want Mama, don't you?"
"You know very well that I do," Akira snarled in response.
"That's my business," Akira said coldly. As a matter of fact, he wanted Shukuko purely for one reason - she was his. He owned her. But she had double-crossed him. She had gotten pregnant and fled, taking his son with her. It was the principle of the thing. Women did not leave their men and keep them from knowing their own children! Akira was determined to get Shukuko and Komaru back. Then he would show them exactly who was in charge.
Setsuya popped his head into the bedroom. Komaru was lying on the bed, smoking a cigarette, naked except for the sheet draped across his hips. His long hair was loose and trailed down the side of the bed. Setsuya felt a strong surge of lust as he gazed on his lover's body. He struggled to concentrate. "Komaru-kun?"
"Mmm?" his lover finally looked at him, a distracted look in his dark green eyes. "What is it, kiddo?"
Setsuya shut the door and crossed the room, plopping down on the bed and crawling forward to lie across Komaru's chest. "Nothing. I was just looking for you." He shut his eyes, enjoying the feel of Komaru's warm skin against his cheek and the soothing sound of his heartbeat. "I love you," he murmured.
"I love you, too." Komaru stubbed out his cigarette. "How was school?"
"Okay," Setsuya mumbled sleepily. He felt so warm and drowsy. "The school festival is coming up."
"That sounds like fun."
"Will you take me?"
"If you want me to." Komaru's hands went to Setsuya's waistband, pulling down his lover's jeans. His hands caressed his lover's buttocks, his fingers probing gently. Setsuya moaned, and Komaru smirked slightly. "When is it?"
"Saturday night." Setsuya sat up long enough to pull off his shirt, push his clothes to the floor, and rid Komaru of the sheets that were barely concealing his enthusiasm. It looked like Komaru had momentarily forgotten about his father, and Setsuya wasn't about to waste this opportunity. He lowered himself back on top of his lover, propping himself up on his elbows to look into Komaru's eyes. "Are you sure you want to come?"
"I want to be anywhere you are," Komaru leaned up to kiss Setsuya. His hand went between his lover's legs, parting them, stroking Setsuya firmly. "I love you," he repeated, his breath hot against Setsuya's neck.
"I love you t- aah!" Setsuya cried out. "Komaru-kun - ah-"
"Keep it down. Mother might hear."
"You're - evil -" Setsuya groaned, as Komaru's hand tightened, stroking harder. "Oh -"
"Ah -!" Setsuya bit down on his lover's shoulder to stifle his cries.
"Relax, kiddo... you're in good hands..."
Idane Hiroshi smirked to himself as he read the sign tacked to the telephone pole. As soon as he finished, he tore it down and headed back to Akira's hotel. This was very important. He might as well spread the news. He slipped the sign under Akira's door and hurried away.

To Be Continued...
(A/N: I'm an awful person. I've waited forever to finish this chapter. Well, I didn't exactly wait... I've kind of lost track of what I want to do with this story. Well, I have an ending in mind, but getting there is tough. Sigh. It's the same excuses I use every time one of my writing projects is behind schedule. I'm just a lazy procrastinator. Forgive me. I'll try to be quick with Chapter 14.
I was in the mood for a long, drawn-out sex scene between Komaru and Setsuya, but as this story is rated PG-13, I couldn't do it. (Well, I felt it was best not to do it.) I'll just go and draw a picture of it instead. (Well, not the sex... more like just naked cuddling... with a sheet covering what we shouldn't see...) I'll try to post it on my friend's LiveJournal community - it's called 'Original Ideas'. As soon as I do, I'll tell you where to find it. Urggh. I'm so slow. It won't be graphic, of course, since I don't want to get kicked off LiveJournal for distributing pornography! Lol. I need to update my profile on this website, too. Ughhh...)
